All that the current price does is eat into the sales of other iPod products... What ever happened to capturing the lower end of the market with a 2gb mini ipod for 150 bucks?

just to let everyone who is planning to buy one that if you go through the education site (you have to be a student or instructor) you can get it for $229.

I'm planning to return my 256MB iriver that I bought for $199 and getting this little puppy.

I have the USB 2.0 cable (which I never use since I have Firewire) for my 15 GB iPod. It works fine over USB 1.1. It's just sllooooowwwwww (and doesn't charge the battery like Firewire does).

because afaik firewire slams USB1/2 into dust.

i was able to copy 10gb of mp3 to ipod using firewire in about 3 min?

i don't think i'll get that throughoutput w/ usb

Well, I think $199 would be a lot more attractive, but when they showed the comparison to the competition, it's a much better product. It's very hard to purchase an iPod mini that's 4-5GB for $249, instead of a 15GB for $299. Then again, you do get a case of some sort with the iPod mini, which is a $30 savings, but you don't get a case with the 15GB. If you take the case off to make it equal to the 15GB iPod, your down to $219, which is much closer to that $199 we had hoped for.

If you have a need for something that small for jogging, or just find the regular iPod too "bulky" for some reason, I guess its more than worth it for that ultra small form factor.

I am still not convinced that HD MP3 Players are for jogging at all. Not that I don't like that ipods. I am a proud owner of a 20G 3G Ipod, but I'd never take it along for jogging. 2Gig of Compact Flash would have been awesome though.

In most cases USB2 is very close to firewire speed

to me its reasonable when compared to the competitions prices and features. i myself wouldn't buy it, but thats because its not targeted at me.

if no other competitor has a matching product, and only has slightly cheaper offerings with sacrifices in product design, then a price can be said to be justifiable.

just look at your example. how are sony, sony, nikon, able to charge premiums over say kodak or a chinese brand cam? giant conspiracy? after all, kodac has 3mega pixel cams just as nikon and sony. but consistently, the kodaks are discounted. could it be that they are inferior?

anyways, for the most part, competition is more equal in the camera area. the companies have been at it for quite a while.

perhaps you should take another look at your camera. its a 3.2mega pixel only. did you use massive discounts or a hot deal to get it down to 200? was it a sale? or is it normally 200 dollars? somehow i doubt its regularly 200 dollars unless its of questionable design. that being said, it doesn't matter,i wouldn't spend even 200 dollars on a 3.2megapixel, its not enough detail, you might as well spend a little more and do your photos justice, instead of being penny wise and pound foolish. you can't go back and retake photos of your prescious memories. perhaps you are happy with the price, perhaps its "good enough for you", but perhaps you are a fool, a fool like the ipod purchaser you deride. perhaps a person would be happy to have an ipod of half the physical volume with a savings of 50 dollars if they didn't need all that space?


maybe you should end your life. ignorance and arrogant, rather negative qualities to be living with.
