I love that argument too. Are you really multitasking on a fucking WM phone? Kinda funny since of the 8 WM phones I had, every single one of them would crash on a regular basis, overheat, melt my hand, etc. But that sweet sweet multitasking was well worth it.

Or do you have multiple apps open and then split the 3" screen so you can look at them both at the same time? Sounds pretty sweet.

You know what you never, ever ever ever have to do with the iphone? Go to the task manager to close down 18 of the 40 apps running on a 300mhz cpu with 128mb ram that is melting the internals of the phone.

:laugh:Oh the ironing!

Wow, I really hope neither ric nor anyone else is stupid enough to leave a piece of expensive electronics in direct sunlight on a 90+ degree day for extended periods of time. This falls under common sense to me. I'm assuming his overheating was not caused by this... or at least hoping.

From the article :-

Apple says that the iPhone is only meant to operate at temperatures between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F) and be stored at temperatures between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Unfortunately, this is much lower than the temperatures experienced in much of the American South and Southwest.

Whoops. You said AT&T sucked. Some other guy said that you can't use the argument because it's great. I think I meant to reply to him =P

But I'm just hoping AT&T gets their act together and puts in their 850 towers in CA finally and turns them on. I only went to AT&T because T-Mobile didn't have 850 and back in the day the Cingular network was great... until T-Mobile kicked them off the network they once shared and they had to fall back to the legacy ATT network which was terrible.

Also in response to the iPhones overheating, it's not really a product of the iPhone itself. Cortex A8 processors are in other mobile phones that compete with the iPhone. Palm Pre? Samsung Omnia HD? THey all have Power VR gfx cards too. Now if this is just because the iPhone is poorly designed where the internals go up to like 80C or something then that sucks, but honestly, I can see these powerhouse CPUs getting too hot in other phones too.

So just because the iPhone has the games that can cause it to burn up doesn't mean the phone sucks. You try playing those same apps on the competing phones and make sure they don't burn up first.

Right, but do most portable electronics operate adequately in those conditions either? I would be surprised. I think most of my medicines indicate that it is very bad to leave them at those temperatures too.

I think at&t's suckyness is directly due to the iPhone. When I first got my 3G iPhone, I got consistent speeds of 1100+ kbps when I was on 3G. Now, almost a year later, I'm lucky to get over 500kbps at this time of day. at&t converted my 3G to 850 some time ago.

The only thing that is keeping me away from buying an iPhone is the rates that AT&T charges for their shitty plans. If I could buy a new unlocked iPhone for cheap I would(as in, not $600), but I can't... Also AT&T would start charging me like $300 a month because I am not on their "iPhone plan."

What if an iPhone user in SoCal wants to use the GPS turn-by-turn feature, attaches the iPhone to their dash on a 90+ degree day and takes a drive?

Should iPhone users just leave their phones at home on hot days? Or move to Minnesota during the summers?

You probably have AC going in your car if it is 90F+ out. Operating temperatures for the iPhone are like 35F to 105F according to Apple.

It's nature. If there can be a group that forms around something that becomes popular, there will also be a group to hate that same thing just because it's popular. People want to be unique and shit.

Aw beat me to it.

Seriously though who else leaves anything like an iPhone in the sun on a 90f day while its processing stuff and expects eveything to be alright?

Sun = Bad on display on hot days, let alone a full on computer working behind the display. Didnt we learn this like a decade ago?

iPhone will process perfectly find in 90f weather if you have it in teh shade. Im proof of that. Its been in the 90s in my place for the last two weeks and my iPhone is being used to post this AND torrent AND im playing lemonade on it! =]

Yea seriously. I wouldn't even be able to turn on the GPS if it was that hot in my car. I'd let it cool down first.

I'd rather have the choice to burn my hand off with 20 apps open if i want than have a company tell me what i can do and have on a phone. I've never had my hand melt off either but with recent iphones, it seems to be a problem. I've never had a winmo phone crash on me and 99% of the time when something crashes, the problem is PEBKAC. The AT&T network sucks as far as coverage and speed goes. Also i could never live without a physical keyboard. Having a spare battery in emergencies is pretty much needed as i cannot be without my phone at all. I also like to be able to expand my memory as i see fit and the slingbox is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

So how do you run 20 apps? Do you hook the phone up to an external monitor? Do you tile all 20 so they fit on the 3" screen? No? THen what the fuck is the point (only exception being pandora, but with an ipod its not that much of an issue)?

You must not use your phone much then, every "awesome" WM phone I've ever used (blackjack 1/2, half a dozen HTC, moto Q) has crashed... repeatedly.

Can't use ATT as an argument against the phone itself, ATT has the best coverage for me.

Sling is on the iphone. Everywhere I go I have wifi access.

You can buy a battery pack for it that works fine

Not having to deal with 17 different .5"x.5" sd cards is one of the greatest features of the iphone.

But thats not even the point. From a pure usability standpoint, the iphone destroys every other phone, easily. Best browser, best media capability (by 10000%), best interface, best apps, best games, best video editing (and only?).....so, yeah. I guess if being able to max out your 300 meg cpu with 15 apps, 11 of which you're not using, is your idea of a great phone....then there's no point in arguing. I'll take all of the above listed and deal with a few minor shortcommings over having to use a shitty WM type phone.

Ok I get it you're an fanboi and I must have struck a nerve cus you sure do have a sailor's mouth.

No, I just hate elitist snobs who will bash anything "popular" because they think it makes them look cool. Notice how you can't refute anything I stated? Cause they are all true.

I hate apple as a company, hate their OS, hate their computers, hate their advertising and prices....but at the same time, I can admit when they actually made a killer product and won't bash it just cause it sold 100 million units.

I can refute almost everything you said just like you can refute almost everything I said but you obviously take this too seriously to have a rational discussion and would rather cuss and take it over board when it's no big deal and nothing to get heated over.

Ah, gotcha. You can refute everything but won't because you're better than that (when you're the one who started the thread in the first place, but you really don't care)? 10-4, crystal clear

Can you play music on your phone by saying the band's name?

I, uh, don't listen to music on my phone...

Thanks for playing!

I couldn't care less, this is my personal phone; it does what I need pretty damn well. Before that I carry a Blackberry Bold, also does what I need pretty damn well.

But, thanks for playing though, whatever it is that you're playing.

 You didn't realize what voice activation meant on an iphone did you?

Can you voice activate turn-by-turn navigation to any of your contacts?
