When we ordered my new MacBook Air we didn't realize that we could purchase Apple Care later as long as we did so within the 1st year & mistakenly ordered it while purchasing the computer. After finding out that we could get it later, I made a couple phone calls to cancel the Apple care & was assured this was done.

In today's mail what arrives? An Apple Care packet, I went to the phone dreading having to deal with a potentially messy customer service issue.

I had a live CS agent within seconds... she informed me that their CS team had noted that my transactions had taken several phones calls & that they'd decided to bill the Apple care plan at 0.00 & to go ahead and ship the plan to me anyway.

My computer is protected till Dec 2014 & I didn't need to pay a penny for the plan, a Merry Christmas from Apple!

I am totally stunned here, I have had decent CS from a lot of OEM's but this is taking it to a totally different level.

LOL, Color me sold, lock stock and barrel, Apple freaking rocks!

The nice thing about having a high margin business is you can give stuff away for free from time to time and it doesn't hurt you.

I'm just stunned, I was really happy with how Apple had handled my prior phone calls, it's not their fault we didn't know that Apple Care could be purchased later.

This computer is gorgeous, I'd be happy with it even if the CS was merely average but Apple just earned themselves a loyal customer here, I'm not an easy woman to impress & they just blew my mind

You paid 3x the price for a macbook compared to a similar spec'd windows notebook and you're surprised they threw in a $150 warranty? lol

Actually the warranty is $298 & covers the system for 2 additional years. Also i got a refurbished MacBook Air, the only system to come close to it in terms of system weight & spec's was the Asus ZenBook which was similarly priced to the Air but got poor reviews from quite a few people about poor keyboard & Track pad quality.

It was quite generous of Apple to do this, the MBA is a terrific computer & I'm more than pleased with my Apple experiences so far.

So any opinion that doesn't line up with apple sheep is "trolling"?

No, opinions are fine. But you did the same tired argument. "Price 3x compared to similar Windows notebook". It wasn't needed and could have been phrased in a much less inflammatory manner.

Also, you referred to the posters in here as Apple sheep. Again, inflammatory and not necessary. You are just trying to troll or stir stuff up with name calling.

Ok, you've stated that I could have bought a Windows system that was the same for 1/3 of the price I paid for this one.

Please go find me an aluminum bodied Windows laptop that weighs 2.8 pounds with 4 GB ram & a 128GB SSD drive for $400 and then we can talk.

When Intel released the Ultrabook spec, manufacturers initially had trouble matching the Macbook Air prices. Now that ultrabooks are available they're about the same price as an Air. So where are you getting your 3x price from Troll?

please show us this mythical laptop that is cheaper than a macbook air spec for spec

I did my homework before getting the Air, regardless of what I paid for it, Apple was under zero obligation to give me a $298 warranty plan for free, I'm totally delighted with them & no thread troll can take that feeling away from me.

Ditto, I also did my homework, and the only thing that might come close is the Sony Z, which runs 2k +

I was never an Apple fanboy, but I do like their products, and now i've got some cash, I feel OK dropping it on something new/unique.

No PC laptop afaik comes close to the macbook air at 1/3 the price. I can think of 2 that come close, but it's def not 1/3 the price.

I am not going to bother. It will be a short show because OILFIELDTRASH has probably finished his trolling in this thread.

I can be such a pain when the facts get in the way of a good trolling.

MotionMan

I just don't understand the thread trolling stuff, I didn't go into other forums and say bad things about Windows PC's & haven't said anything bad about them here. In a time when companies are cutting corners on things like customer service, Apple was very good to me & no troll can diminish the truth of that or my joy in it.

They are threatened by Apple products, it's as simple as that. And the next questions you'll probably ask is, why would someone be threatened by computer equipment? Simple, they're morons.

That's darn good service from any sized company. But to receive it from a company large as Apple is extraordinarily. It speaks very highly of Apple.

As for the price of Macbook Air, real Windows equal will cost about the same if not more. But the beauty of Windows world is that you have larger choices and selection. For $350, I can buy this laptop and replace the 320gb hard drive with 128gb ssd for another $100 and have decent machine for $450. Sure it's not the same as MacAir but it's also $450 and very capable machine. I believe this laptop can also do the Hackintosh if you're into that sort of thing.

That is also a super-crazy sale price. It is normally $700 (not counting the $100 for the SSD). That being said, I guess it is possible to find Win machines at that price, but they are few and far between.

One tiny problem, the laptop you linked to is 11.6 inches sporting a core i3 cpu , I purchased a 13.3 inch MacBook Air. It's got a bigger screen, it's i5 core cpu & weighs the same as the computer you've linked to & I didn't need to install an SSD drive on it. The Samsung Series 9 is more comparable but it costs $200 more than what I paid for the Air .
