I feel like I'd be lying if I said I cared that some app that I've never heard of (and probably would never use now that I've heard of it) was rejected by Apple.

Also, your bastardization of the English language offends me.

Please, I ask you to point out how I bastardized the English language. Secondly, who gives a shit if you use the app or not keep your opinion about that to yourself. I wasn't making this thread on the basis of how the app is, but how Apple is refusing to release an update for an app. They claim it has obscene material while they are unable to provide adequate proof.

It's Apple's App Store they can do what they want. If you want to make apps with obscene material you'll have to make them elsewhere.

You idiots are not paying attention I DONT GIVE A CRAP about the damn app. It's the fact that apple in sensoring something saying it has nudity which it doesn't if you took the 5 minutes to read the article before putting in your two cents. Don't try to sound like you know what your talking about when you know nothing about the subject at hand. Apple is denying this app access to the store and is using the nudity bullshit as an excuse. When the sports illustrated app shows only skin but is allowed to sell their app in the store. So next time make sure you read before posting.

And I DONT GIVE A CRAP if the stupid app has nudity or not. It's Apple's store they can do whatever they want with it. If it really is just about nudity and it has none, this will probably be fixed soon. If not, who cares. So what if Apple is a nazi and blocks some shitty app - is the world going to end? No. Are there plenty of other crappy apps you can fill your phone with? Yes.

IT IS APPLE'S STORE. THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. Don't like it? Go somewhere else.

For example, in my house, you have to take off your shoes. Now there is nothing wrong with shoes in general, but I am a nazi and like to make people take off their shoes. Don't like it? Don't visit.

Just another reason why these developers need to abandon the iphone. They have no idea if the software they write is even going to be sellable. If enough developers stop writing iphone applications, apple will have to change it's walled garden approach.

QFT.

The more devs who jump on Android (or Palm, or whoever), the better off we'll be in the long run.

Don't you think it's a bit odd that Americans are sex-crazed,

yet speak so loudly about something as simple and not-offending as "nudity"?

Which has been wildly successful, even beyond the estimates of Apple themselves.

Check this out:

Your article has nothing to do with this thread. However, your point is worth a mention: Regardless of how successful Apple's App Store is, it's still a disadvantage of the platform when Apple, being the sole arbiter of approving apps, will sometimes prevent updates from 3rd party developers from being released.

Yes, but you can always jailbreak.

By the same token, one can point to the article that you dismissed and claim that Android phones are at a disadvantage b/c they are open source and the carrier can decide what OS should 'officially' be on them (eg Rogers, HTC Dream, and android 1.5)

Here's a recent blog post from the developers at tap tap tap that hits on this issue nicely:

[on iPhone web apps]... "They think and hope that web apps will somehow magically replace the App Store but there’s no way in hell that it’ll ever happen. A lot of this stems from all the publicity that some app rejections have gotten by the media, and a childish, “Ima take my ball and go home” attitude. But in reality, these rejections are by far the exception, rather than the rule…

For what it’s worth, we’ve submitted many, many updates of our apps to the App Store and never once got rejected. And we’ve been known to sneak in the occasional private API use here and there. A little common sense goes a long way. What’s unfortunate is that some developers have actually come to hope for rejection because they know that it’s a sure-fire way to get some publicity. Both the developers and the media are to blame, in my opinion."

I agree. kschaffner, this is not a big deal, don't make it into one.

It's not the rejection to approval ratio that ticks me off. It's that 99% of the appstore is useless garbage. and the 1% of useful apps seem to have a high rejection ratio.

Why can't I have google voice? Google Latitude? A alterate web browser (you know it would be rejected)? etc.

Further more, when an app is rejected, why can't the developers get info on what changes they can make to get it approved. Even further then that, why do they approve applications, take your money, then reject them, but give you a huge work around to get your money back. I paid for something, I gave a developer money for a project they want to update for me. But apple says no because this new reviewer thinks the app violates the TOS.

I love my iPhone, but I hate the app store. As soon as there is a better choice, I will switch.

Totally agree! Also kschaffner needs to calm the fk down... We are entitled to our own opinion

Even though my opinion is always the right opinion!

I wasn't getting upset about his opinion but how 2 people completely missed the point of the post and what the developer of the program was saying. The two people above made the basis of their comment on that photokast has nudity and if I want to see naked people go elsewhere. That wasn't even close to anything I said or what the developer posted about. We don't want nudity in the app and the developer moderates that. Apples seems to think that means it gets a red flag immediately, which is ludicrous. Apple let this app onto the store in the first place, people purchased it, and then apple updated their os to 3.0 and now the app has compatibility issues which can't be solved because apple won't let them put the app into the store again. Nothing changed from when it was originally released.

I got upset because he said that I bastardized the English language, I must say successful troll was successful.
