Bluetooth is ok but I don't trust bluetooth with my sound. It's spotty anyways and we know that apple hates it's guts. I'd be fine if apple included a lightning to 3.5mm adapter (With another lightning port for charging too) with the phone but we know they won't, or won't after an iteration or two.

For Bluetooth receiving devices that support AAC codec, most music will be streamed without any transcoding or loss of quality. Final quality depends on the analog-to-digital converter in the receiving device, though.

I like how nowhere has Apple said they're ever getting rid of the headphone jack, but that doesn't make a difference for the people bashing them.

Anti-Apple nerds are more annoying than pro-Apple nerds.

The battery will last long enough you won't need to charge while you listen to music. It's their new cochlea sound technology, measured to last just as long as the ear appreciates music.

If apple removes it, they're just trying to streamline. It makes sense, following their past design models. (doing away with floppy/cd drives and only providing USB and firewire) Stuff like that that nobody else would consider.

I have had a Roku, Apple TV3 and now the Amazon Fire TV

Of the three, the performance and stability of ATV3 is the best. The apps like WatchESPN and others are better designed, more intuitive and very stable. Not the case with the other two boxes, including the newest one on the market, the Fire TV.

My ancient Ipod still works fine, and it has been used a lot.

If not for the screen size, I might have gotten Iphone over S4 - even though the whole lock in ecosystem of Apple is a real pain

I am no Apple fan but it is true they make quality products. It is not all due to marketing and hype and fan following.

Is there such a thing as a pro Apple nerd? Just about everyone I know who is a devoted Apple user is quite clueless about technology. Though I personally do not consider that a derogatory thing by any means.

You've never seen the WWDC? It's like a Mecca pilgrimage for sweaty nerds.

lol

We stopped inside the Engadget trailer to see what it looks like when you put 30 or so tech journalists in front of laptops (mostly MacBooks, with one PC running Ubuntu).

Look into the Cydia crowd, some of the most. Techie nerds out there. It's much harder to mod an iPhone over Android.

The quoted post is the epitome of anti-Apple delusion. To believe that only simpletons like Apple products and somehow convince yourself that true geeks know better. Some of the biggest computer nerds are fans of Apple stuff.

...even the cable system / network engineers at the cable ISP where I work.

In terms of general users, Apple users tend to know a lot less about tech than others. One of the biggest appeals of Android is that it is so much more customizable.

As for real techy nerds that is a different matter.

This is a completely ridiculous statement to make with absolutely no data to back it up.

The reason I say it is completely ridiculous is because those numbers could never work. Windows has 90% of desktop market share. OS X has like 8%.

Even if we agreed that the 100%... EVERYONE that owned a Mac was tech illiterate and only 10% of Windows users were, that 10% would outnumber all the OS X users.

I meant phones and tablets primarily. Anyway it is not something I feel passionately about either way

Engadget reporters really aren't all that techie... they're just reporters who understand technology slightly more than than your average journalist.

Something tells me that you wouldn't catch an Electrical Engineer outside of Apple using a new Macbook... The lack of Ethernet port for transferring their huge CAD files would probably drive them nuts, among other things.
