Macwarehouse is have a sale on the older model ipods. The 10gig ipod is usually $399 and is hardly ever discounted anywhere. You can get it from them for $299 and they will include a free leather case. Like I said ipods are never discounted anywhere so I don't think this one will last long. This is the older model which has the scroll wheel and not the touchpad.

i think that is MICROwarehouse... not MAC

and i do believe these are the older models that have the spinning dial instead of the new 'touch sensitive' dial. plus the new 10gb ipods come w/ leather case and new headphones w/ remote. i could be wrong tho.

even tho its the older model, still a hot deal. i love my ipod, even if it is only 5gb

This is pretty hot even for the older model. I just bought the newer Windows 20GB version for $508 shipped and the case that comes with it sucks, the remote has 3 foot wire as does the headphones, so when plugged together, they equal a ton of wire! So I can't see myself using the remote until I find headphone with a very short wire. I also went out and bought the exact case that this deal is throwing in for $31.00. So, I paid about $240 more for 10GB's and a touch wheel. I almost could have bought two of these instead. Good find.

I have the exact same case they are offering free as well. It's a very nice leather case, not some cheapo and it cost me about $30 to purchase it separately.

LarryJoe: Check out the sony "Nude-X" earphones. They are from japan and are kinda pricey but the cord is split which allows you to put the ipod in your shirt pocket or you can put on the attachment for a really long card. It also comes int white to match the ipod. They actually fit into your ear canal and have really good sound. That takes some getting used to and is one reason thats its not for everyone. There is an american version that is black and doesn't have the split cord.

if you're wondering about getting an ipod for jogging or any kind of active activity--be careful.
There's a glitch with either the apple ipod 1.2 firmware or the 10GB ipods in which the ipod will lock up after it runs out of internal memory (32mb) if you're moving around with it. I'm assuming that it tries to pickup new data to buffer, but cannot becuase the motion, and crashes.

I know this because my 10gb winpod does the same thing. So do about 200 other ipod users. There are also issues with battery life and 1.2. Ugh. I hope they fix this soon.

Personally I wouldn't take any harddisk based mp3 player jogging. I know the HD is supposed to take an incredible amount of g force before failing but its just too risky IMO. Any static memory mp3 players (with no moving parts) would be fine for jogging.

It is indeed gone from their site. I must have ordered one of the last ones (yesterday), but mine went through fine, and has shipped.

I got my 10-megger yesterday - SOOOOOOO cool. I had it up and running within five minutes using Ephpod and MacOpener, and have loaded it up nicely. I am about to head over to the gym to use it during my workout. Thanks for the deal!

You can also convert that mac ipod to a true windows ipod. That way you don't have to use macopener with ephpod. I believe it is also a little faster transfering data since you are in native fat32 mode.

Yeah, I just did that tonight. It works great. I found a place to download the Windows installer, and it worked fine with the serial number from my iPod, so I now have a Windows iPod.

It does not seem any faster than with MacOpener, but I prefer not having MacOpener running all the time (not that I noticed any performance difference - I have a pretty fast machine), and I would just as soon not spend the $40 on it. Ephpod rocks, though, and it is roughly ten skillion times better than that crappy MusicMatch Jukebox.

FYI, you can convert these to the Windows version pretty painlessly. Gives you a nice 'normal' fat drive and no need for the MAC drivers on your PC....
