when they come out with something smaller, what are they gonna call it? Ipod Sub-atomic?

were you confused between milli and mini?

mill (10^-3) -> micro (10^-6) -> nano (10^-9)

mini doesn't really fit in there anyway, so i don't really see how micro should be next.

Apple, Apple, Apple..
When will you ever learn children.

Apple is not good for your health

Will the consumers have to spend $100 again to send it in, to get the battery replaced after 1 year?

Will you be the iTunes marketing slave?

Is this thing XP integrated where you can right click on your MP3 file and send into directly?

I cannot believe that some old-timer Internet and computer savy members of this great forum are falling for iPods.

That doesn't really matter to apple

The more people are showing it off The more sales ^_^

Unless Apple wants another lawsuit and wants to hand out $50 GC in one year to everyone who is buying a Nano, they probably got the battery portion of this iPod right. They've had several generations to learn from their mistakes, and from all the reviews I've read, the Nano gets it's rated 14 hours battery life.

iTunes is no better or worse than MusicMatch or WMP.

It's true, officially you need iTunes to transfer music. The upside is that your portable gets synched with your computer automatically, songs, playlists, PodCasts, etc. The downside is that you need iTunes to transfer music; no simple copy & paste. From a ease-of-use and marketing perspective, using iTunes is a no brainer. The simple fact is that a majority of computer users don't know how to navigate their file system. They don't know or don't want to go digging through their hard drive for their music and send the files one by one to their portable. It's true that more advanced users like you and me would appreciate the simplicity of using your portable as a flash storage device, but lots of people don't care.

But let's see what Apple did get right:

Size: 4GB of flash storage in a player smaller than a business card and a few quarters thick.

Interface: The click wheel works; navigation is simple for most users to figure out in minutes.

Big color screen: something you would never expect on a player of this size.

Battery life: 14 hours is excellent for a player of this size.

Price: $199 is just low enough for people to snatch them up as an impulse buy. These will fly off the shelves during the holidays.

For the BILLIONTH TIME there is no other 4 Gig Flash mp3 player in that price range.

Reason why there won't be a 4 gig flash mp3 player around in this price range for a while...

Frankly I think hating of Apple and Apple products is just sheer ignorance. Just because some of their users border on being Zealots does not dismiss that they do make some good products, and clearly they make the best and most supported MP3 products out there as of right now. So people just need to get a grip. Here's an idea: If you don't want an Ipod, go post somewhere else instead of flaming this thread

I just feel that there are many people out there trying to decide which MP3 player to purchase. If your so-called "Zealots" can speak so highly of iPods, then why can't I get in here and say "iPods are kinda craptastic when you look at bang for buck, especially when you can get something better from Creative for the same price"?

God forbid I try to help out my fellow consumer ;p

I will Paypal you $100 right now if you can link me to a 4 gig flash based player from creative or heck anyone else for $249.

I wish you idiots would do some research before spewing your ignorant bs in every damn thread.

I bought a 4g one. It is well worth it, this is my first mp3 player, and I am VERY satisfied with it. It exceeds my expectations and its smaller that it looks to boot!

No need to get flamed now Ciber!
All we are saying is that iPods are marketing oriented super-hyped products which force consumers to adopt buying habits from Apple affiliated or owned companies.
That is why consumers must be informed about iPods.
Also, they are not so OS and MP3 friendly.

Life is good!
So relax my friend, stop calling your forum-mates names.
And take that $100 you offer and spend it on one hour of mental theraphy.

I fail to see how you guys spreading FUD everywhere out of pure ignorance is considered informing the public... Such as you saying the ipod is not mp3 friendly, which i find quite amusing considering my ipod is full of mp3's.

I dont think that is gonna work either because the reason why itrip doesnt work is because it plugs in the top and the nano doesnt have that in-plug. it has to plug in from the bottom like the monster one.

Maybe there is a work around

thx

Does anyone know if the sound quality on Nano is any better than the Mini? I used to have both iPod Mini, Zen Micro, iRiver iFP-799 and at the end, I chose iRiver because it sounded better than the Mini and long battery life. (I didn't like the Zen Micro too much)

I am really tempted to get this Nano but if the sound quality is the same as Mini, then I will pass.

hollowman I think the sound quality on the nano is GREAT! even with the factory headphones that came with it. Now I don't have an anal ear but I do know it sounds better than the creative player that my friend has.

Thanks for the input. I've been searching through some reviews on the mini 6gb and nano. It seems like original mini < 6gb mini < nano as far as sound quality goes.

I guess I will try it out too. If I don't like it, I guess I could always eBay it.
