Is that just for states that don't grow their own? Here in WA I saw piles of Honeycrisps labeled as "new crop" in the store Friday.

Red delicious sucks, period. Raw Brussels sprouts are more delicious than red delicious apples. Honeycrisp is good, but kind of hyped. It's a perfect example of a fine product boosted to god-like proportions due to internet inertia. The true connoisseur knows that Stayman winesap is the best apple.

I was referring to the Midwest harvest, which is later than Pacific Northwest. We also have WA honeycrisp in our stores right now but they're $4 per pound. After the Midwest harvest I can usually find them for $2.50 per pound.
