Anyone buy from them before? Site does not look that professional, but i have no idea... also its a refurb... might want to mention that in the title....
I've read good things about SmallDog Computing. Very good support. They've been around for a while too. Looks like an awesome deal. I used to have the Tibook. Nice but there are a few things you should consider.
1. Airport wireless range is limited by titanium of case.
2. Unit does get very warm.
3. Case is more fragile than you might think.
4. Battery came loose on earlier models.
You might want to consider Apple's new ibook with 14" for $1700. I have the 12" ibook and like it better than the Tibook, much more rugged.
My Mac friends have told me Small Dog is a reliable source for Mac hardware. And yeah if the new iBook is just like the old one, but with a bigger screen, they are pretty nice.
Smalldog is a great store. I have always had good luck and heard good things. They have weekly emails, Kibbles and Bytes, on various topics and deals.
A little better deal is here: Smalldog
<< I'm so tempted to switch from an windows user (starting from dos) to a mac user ... please talk me out of it >>
K, what do you want the laptop for?
Word processing/Netsurfing: You can get a laptop much cheaper to do all that
Gaming: If only Mac ever got any games
Audio/Video production: Good machine
ok, first off who plays games on laptops?
If you are creative on any level, get the machine. Its awsome for print/audio/video/art, bit overpriced if you wanna portable web sufring box. Also the 14in ibook is stil g3
Smalldog is very reputable...no question. Excellent seller. The Ti book is excellent. Great price for a hot looking computer with power to boot. I think refurb means you can still buy the apple extended warranty for 3yrs for $300. Not sure on it , but think so. Apple gives a great warranty....fixes any problems with your laptop...highly recommendd for apple laptops.
I do want to be creative with it especially photoshoping - graphic design stuff. I want one so bad. It looks like egay is selling these for about the same price. I heard the 400mhz machines are slow in relative terms and that the 500mhz machine is much better machine ... not sure yet. I'm too familar with the windows operating system .... a few more days to think ...
>>>Not sure if this has been mentioned - but this is a refurb for what it matters.... you might want to change the title<<<
Thank you very much for pointing that out - it matters a LOT to some of us. I wouldn't have wasted the time if that was in the title as it should have been.
If you want to save some money, you can buy the 400 mhz and remove one resistor and either resolder it (or use conductive ink) at another location to make it 500 mhz.
another notable difference between the titanium and the ibook is that you can get the ibook with a dvd/cd-rw combo drive, whereas the titanium only comes with a dvd drive.
