I just upgraded from an Apple TV 3 to an Apple TV 4 thanks to the DirecTV Now signup deal. While the Siri remote with touchpad is nice, I would like to use my universal remote the majority of the time. As with the ATV3, the 4 has the ability to learn a 3rd party remote. I thought I was good to go, until I realized that there doesn't seem to be any way to access the audio and subtitle options menu with a traditional remote. Using the touchpad remote, you can invoke menu by swiping down on the touchpad while watching a video. Pressing the down arrow button on a traditional remote does nothing. I also tried pressing and holding the select button, which is how you invoke this menu on the ATV3. I tried google this but had no luck. Does anyone have a solution other than using the touchpad remote for this?
Edit: I found a partial solution. In some apps, you can invoke this menu by pressing the down arrow twice. Unfortunately, this does not work in every app, such as the DirecTV Now app.
