I let it go, as I normally do, since such "lawyer jokes" are generally a sign that the jokester is an idiot lacking actual support for their position and/or sees that he is losing the argument. However, when he decided to actually defend the personal attacks, I decided it was best to nip it.

Apple has not sued Google over android. Google threw out the first lawsuit against Apple. HTC is not Google. Samsung is not Google. By attacking Google's partners, they are attacking Google's product, android, and thus attacking google indirectly. Google assigned some of their patents to HTC in order to defend them against Apple. And Google and Apple are now in talks to halt the lawsuits and maybe come to some sort of cross licensing agreement. IF Google didn't buy up Motorola et al, and threaten countersuits, do you HONESTLY think Apple would come to the negotiating table? Stop being obtuse.

You do realize that they designed the software for it... specifically to be used by the N7 first, and they also helped design the hardware, right? So they didn't subcontract out the actual manufacturing of the device to some 3rd party? THAT is your retort? Talk about desperation.

From a purely legal perspective as well, the trial seemed inherently biased from the start. Even before the first accusations had been exchanged, presiding Judge Lucy Koh now a bit of a legal celebrity and a good bet to get her own reality TV show in the future sent out a clear message by granting Apple pre-trial sales bans on a number of Samsung Galaxy products. In other words, the jury's more hesitant members had a precedent to refer to when making their decision - the legal expert had already effectively gone on the record as being convinced by Apple's case.
