It's just so.....un-Apple. iPhones and iPads were almost always available by the pallet load at retail locations the day of launch. They had 8 months to bring this thing to market after announcement and the best they can do is a couple hour middle of the night web purchase?

It has been a very bizarre product announcement and release so far.

Supposedly it's on purpose and part of their retail strategy. My wife received her white sport today. The box is long and beautifully packaged. Classic Apple. We haven't had a chance to play with it as it's charging but it feels solid and she likes the look. So it's a keeper.

I was already down on the Apple watch. That article you linked makes me loathe it even more now.

You'll be spending most of your time with the watch doing that from what reviews say. Can't even function as an alarm because it will die before it needs to go off in the morning. And that's just idling.

Women will love this accessory. Actually, the fashion community is saying that is what it will be. A statement. It says ... "I have money and am stupid"

Wife is thrilled with the watch. I think she likes it more as fashion accessory more than functionality. She showed it my 12 yr old daughter and she wanted one. So I just ordered the 42mm Apple Sport in blue for her. It said June shipping. I'm hoping it comes sooner. My wife's Apple Sport white also said June shipment when I ordered it on the 10th but it arrived today. So I'm hoping the shipping estimate is really conservative.

I just don't know what to say after reading this.

Just checked the prices on these things and my jaw just hit the floor. If this is for real then wow, just wow.

I guess you can just put an Apple logo on anything and they will come ... throwing their money as if it is worthless.

I got my 38mm SS Black sport band today at 7pm, because UPS is an awful courier service I guess. Never used them before, hopefully won't ever have to again.

The watch is beautiful. You guys are going to change your minds when you get to use it/hold it for more than a few minutes. It's not something that you need for anything, but it's definitely a 'fun' thing to have around.

As soon as iOS 8.3 or 8.4 is Jailbroken I'm ordering one. Most of the apps I use a lot on my iPhone already have been updated with versions that work with the watch.

A watch that does nothing particularly well ... and you don't really need it ... or a semi-auto pistol? Let me see ...

I just don't know what has happened to this society. It's like (fill in the blank) ...

You would prefer that they made no delivery attempt until the next day?

Also, how could this be your first experience with UPS? People moaning about a bad experience with a courier and claiming they don't want to do business with them again is old. Really old.

I've had bad experiences with all of them. Every. Single. One.

The purchase you think you 'really need' is a semi-auto pistol? Do you live in Brazil? I have never in my life even had the idea to purchase a firearm. I don't ever plan to, obsessing about firearms when you aren't even a soldier is childish.

Perhaps in Brazil a semi-auto handgun is useful. To me, having all my notifications, maps and a fitness tracker along with a nice watch is far more useful than shooting inanimate objects. Or the occasional person.

It just really frustrated me to have to pick it up so late. Perhaps they are no worse than the rest, IDK.

"So late?!" Do you go to sleep at 8PM or something?! Jeeze, you are out of touch. Most people work until 4-5PM and get home 5-6PM. 7:30PM is MUCH preferable to having it delivered the next day. I hope your packages go to an office. You really want it to spend another day in the courier's hands or on a doorstep?

It would also be a cold day in hell before I would trust my iPhone as an alarm clock for daily use.

Wait, what? Why?

I've been using my phone as an alarm clock sine I got my Toshiba 2032SP in 2003 running Pocket PC 2002 before there even was a phone edition and never had an issue. Have used an iPhone since 2008 as an alarm clock in the mornings just fine.

I'm just curious as to what the issue you have that could be a show-stopper in that regard.

There have been multiple cases where glitches cause the alarm to not go off (or go off at the wrong time) for millions of users -- sometimes relating to daylight savings time.

I've recently experienced a glitch multiple times where my phone only vibrates and won't give any audible notification, even though the silent mode switch is not engaged and I have not enabled the "do not disturb" mode (I've actually never used DnD).

That said, I use my iPhone as my only alarm clock

I have had alarm disaster after alarm disaster by trusting smartphones but I still use them as my alarm. If you read tech news you would see that almost every year there is another big problem where millions of people miss their alarms because of DST errors and such in modern smartphones. My Xperia PLAY had a problem that I didn't diagnose for months where it would go from 100% to 0% in about three hours as soon as I got home but only every now and then. This would happen less than once a month so I didn't realize what was causing it at first and thought it was random. Eventually I realized that it only happened at home and that the AT&T/Cisco microcell probably had something to do with it.

More recently I find that voice dictation often get's things terribly wrong. Google Now on my Note 3 would set my alarm completely wrong when I would tell it to set my alarm for half an hour (4.3 TouchWiz clock phone didn't have a timer function but S-Voice, strangely, had one) and my iPhone 6 Plus often ignores my AM/PM instruction even when I make sure that it heard me correctly. It also doesn't tell you relevant details like AM/PM when confirming what you said over Bluetooth.

Coming from using a Pebble, I think the Apple Watch is a better product but there's a couple of things that will prevent me from switching at this point.

The main one being how expensive it is. I fully believe it's worth more than a Pebble. Is it worth $150-$200 more than an Asus Zenwatch? $100-$150 more than a Moto 360? I just don't think so. Everything else I think will be fixed next year. Next years software and hardware will be more refined. So maybe next year.

In the meantime, I'm waiting to see how the Pebble Time works out before deciding on a Fitbit Surge. And I may even end up switching to Windows Phone this fall if everything that I'm hearing actually comes together which would make an Apple Watch purchase worthless.

On my iPhone, I have an alarm set for 5:30 am every morning mon-sat. It's never failed to go off. I also use DND mode. I set it to stop all notifications from 10pm-6am and I've simply never had an issue.

I guess I'm just a lucky one .

It's expensive compared to the competition. No doubt. But if it's useful, then it's worth the money. I just don't think Apple Watch is very useful yet. So that's why I would wait and not because of the high price.

I don't expect another Apple Watch next year. I expect 2-3 years before a refresh. So you might be waiting til 2017 or later for Apple Watch 2. But by then maybe there will be a genuine reason for the masses to buy Apple Watch other than being gadget lover and early adopter.

I've had my iPhone's alarm not sound before. I don't use it on very important mornings.

Could be right but, at the very least, software refinements over the next year will go a long way I think.
