Yes.

Is it worth it?
Mostly? If you're OK with the Sport, then it's just about worth it. GPS would put it over the edge I think. That's the big thing it's lacking currently that competing devices offer for roughly the same price.

And although the Stainless Steel model looks, IMO, much better than the Sport, I don't think it's worth the price difference. I got mine super cheap from a friend.

What do you mainly use it for? D:
Telling the time
Getting silent notifications
Sleep Tracking
Activity Tracking
HR Tracking
(Soon) macOS unlocking

If you're considering it, check Swappa for used ones.

Should I wait for the WATCHOS 3.0? When is it out?

This fall, and no, Apple's demos are usually spot on, I trust them to deliver what they demo'd, just buy now, like I said, just get mint used, check the warranty so if it's jacked you can get a replacement.

There may be a new Apple Watch this year, but rumors are unconfirmed. WatchOS 3.0 is the operating system for the watch, which was just announced and demoed last week at WWDC.

When OS 3 fixes the watch, the price will go up on the used ones. I think they'll update the hardware very slowly... Only a guess on my part, though.

Wait wait I am confused why does an update effect the price? So currently the Apple Watch is bugged? I am so confused the latest version is bugged? What?

The latest version is not bugged, per se, but watchOS 3 is supposed to speed up response time by quite a bit.

Whats the difference between the sport version?
There are (technically...) 3 versions of Apple Watch. They are all INTERNALLY identical. Zero difference in CPU, RAM, or storage. The external differences are:
Apple Watch Sport:
Starts at $299 for the 38mm (add $50 for 42mm), it is the lightest and cheapest Apple Watch. Bead blasted anodized aluminum frame, ionized glass face, and I think plastic sensor cluster on the back.
Apple Watch:
Starts at $549 for the 38mm (add $50 for 42mm), middle weight and price. Polished stainless steel frame, sapphire face, ceramic sensor cluster. It is therefore the hardiest of the Apple Watches, though mine shows a fair number of superficial scratches because I don't polish it. It is also, IMO, the most versatile of the models in terms of styling. Easily dressed up or down.
Apple Watch Edition:
Just don't look at or buy this one. Starts at $9999 IIRC, heaviest weight, highest price. Polished hardened gold frame, sapphire glass face, ceramic sensor cluster. It's $10k, don't bother.

I wear it every day. Charge it at night before bed, and wear it while I sleep to track that (3rd party app)

As it currently stands, watchOS 2 is on the slow side, limiting the device's utility. According to Craig Federighi and Phil Schiller, when Apple was developing watchOS 1 and 2, they were SUPER concerned about people getting through a whole day. However, after they had a year of data on how people actually used their watches, and all of that, they realized they had massive resource headroom. So with watchOS 3, more apps stay in memory, they reworked how you interact with the watch, and it should be just all around snappier.

As such, it's basically like getting a new lease on life for the watch. Currently what you'll see for sale used will be people that aren't happy with the performance of watchOS 2, and that's going to change with watchOS 3. People that would have sold may change their mind, reducing supply. People that still don't find utility in it will recognize that the watch is now more valuable given its improvements, and will increase their price (see reduced supply as well).

Finally, no one knows when AppleWatch 2 (not the OS, the hardware) will come out.

If you can, get the stainless version. The sapphire face is worth it alone. The stainless shows more wear and tear but my wife already scratched her sport on the face. I'm terrible about watches and bang them on door frames (doesn't help that I'm a large human). And my stainless is still looking good.

Having owned both the Sport and the SS, I would not buy the Sport again. The SS is just a much nicer accessory, the Sport is really only suitable for that... sport activities. It doesn't dress up, it looks kind of tacky if you try to.

The SS looks great with a sport band for casual wear, and dresses up with a SS or leather band. If you find the SS too expensive, buy a used one. I'd buy a used SS before a new Sport. And also, sapphire will never scratch. The ion X glass will, it's just a matter of time.

Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. I wouldn't even consider a Sport model. I bought my wife the SS AppleWatch and she loves it, and will only get better with WatchOS 3. For her, she uses it for tracking her daily activities, messaging, and HomeKit use. We have full Lutron lighting, thermostats and locks for our home, so the watch comes in very handy when you want an action to be performed (i.e. Hey Siri, turn off the kitchen lights.). It is much slower initiating Siri on her watch vs her iPhone 6s, but I'm hoping that will be spend up in OS 3.

As for me, if AppleWatch 2 isn't announced in September, I'm buying the current version (SS).

Ok I read everyones comments carefully and it seems the SS is the best option? Just quick question. ALl the features in the sport will be on the SS too?

Just quick confirmation. SS means stainless steal and it comes with saphhire correct?

I too, have the SS model, wouldn't buy the Sport, they're just not as durable.

Watch OS3 looks great... If you go to Apple's website, you can see it in the WWDC keynote
