No. Apple's major selling point is their software and their form factor. By no means is it infallible.

Their hardware is generally very good but nothing is perfect.

I've had the same thing (more or less) happen to my when I had my 2nd gen MBP. At the time, they offered me an early 2008 MBP and mine hasn't had an issue since. Well I take that back, I have had the LCD replaced because of a banding issue with the LEDs. You could ask them if they can upgrade you to a 17" matte and you pay the difference (I wish Apple would offer a 15" matte option).
