My PC has suddenly decided not to load any applications I click. I use Windows 7 64 bit. Basically, I'll click any application (be it skype, steam, firefox, windows media player, even programs within the control panel) and it'll look like it's about to load but it won't actually open, and the WEIRD thing is if I ctrl+alt+delete and go to the processes tab, it'll show that they are running.
This happened right after installing my soundcard which I failed SO HARD at doing. Basically, I was supposed to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS and uninstall it within Windows, and I did neither. I also installed the soundcard drivers and software via the cd (fyi its a Xonar Essence DX) while having the onboard sound enabled in the bios and installed within Windows. Yes, I am aware how god awfully noobish this was and I am ashamed to even type this rofl.
So basically I disabled the onboard sound within the bios and uninstalled it in Windows, rebooted, and the whole applications not loading thing happened. I've since removed my sound card until I get this sorted and can get a fresh install of my sound card drivers, which I can't do until anything I click actually loads.
Edit: Oh, my PC just decided to launch steam out of the blue, because why not.
Edit again: I fixed it, a simple system restore is quite the problem solver :|.
