Approaching a Girl.... at 20MPH

Okay, I bet you guys are itchin to give some more girl advice

First of all, I don't have a girlfriend, nor do I have my eye on a certain someone yet. I'm just realizing a potential problem that may prevent the possibility. Now heres the issue:

I'm an avid biker, I don't walk anywhere (b/c walking sucks), and purposely live half a mile from classes (West side of campus) to get a good work out. Plus, when I bike, I bike fast. And no, I don't wear the cheesy spandex or have a road bike. Now, if you were speeding up and down the streets to class or whereever, what would you do if you saw an attractive woman you'd like to meet walking along, minding her own business? (oh yeah, I'm in a big campus so seeing people twice takes a while)

I can imagine it'd be kinda creepy for a girl to see someone speed outta nowhere and stop to ask for her name/number/etc. So what would you do? Do you slow to a halt, get out of the bike lane and yell "Hey pretty lady!" or what? Can/should a biker actually flirt when passing a girl at 20+ MPH?

whistle at her as you bike past her... then aim for a tree after you crash, watch what she does.... if she comes over and expresses concern... she's yours if she walks past laughing... she could still be yours, but with ALOT of work

You could pull one of those slick move from midevil flicks where the knight rides by and picks up the girl and sets her sitting on the horse. Might be a little harder on a bike though.

I think you should decrease your speed as you pass her, instead of just speeding by as if you were afraid of her, not even slowing down... SLOW DOWN and then try to pull something off...

start going slow near her

hit a small bump and "lose control" and fall and lay there, see if she comes to the rescue. if she does, she probably thinks you are hot, then ask her for her number.

I don't know many guys who just approach attractive girls who are walking to class, even if they're walking too.
And the few girls I know who have been approached by a guy in that manner thought it was creepy. Walking up to random girls is not the best way to meet someone.

You could just approach her as though you're anywhere near being a sane person and not some weirdo, thereby also saving you the damage you might inflict on yourself and/or others by following the previously given advice.

No matter what you do, try to act like you're sane when you approach her for the first time. Just start a conversion, ask for her name (and give yours first).

Time to pedal .5 mile @ 20 MPH = 1.5 minutes (not much of a workout if you ask me) Chance of meeting a woman @ 20 MPH on bike = slim

Time to walk .5 mile @ 4 MPH (brisk pace) = 7.5 minutes (more of a workout, but still not much) Chance of meeting a woman @ 4 MPH of foot = a WHOLE LOT better, since she's presumably on foot also.

I'm all for exercise, but seems to me that your chances of meeting someone while walking to classes increases quite a bit when you're on foot.

I accidently stole a girl's purse once while riding my mountain bike downhill at 18mph... she was forced to stop and talk to me then...


What happened was I was racing downhill and was forced onto a small curb due to other bikers/pedestrians. It was either slide to the right and crash and burn into some parked cars (at 18mph, no thank you...) or manouver as close as I could to this girl. I snagged her purse on my handlebar and continued another 20ft until I realized it. I did the 180 slide to a stop, and this cute dark haired girl had an initial look of shock on her face, as she thought I was purposely trying to steal her purse! I got off my bike, walked it back to her, smiled and said something cheezy like, "wow, I don't think I could do that again if I tried." She smiled in relief, and... well since I already had a girlfriend we just stayed "friends" for the semester.

But hey, it worked
