For anyone else who also frequents ApusHardware, as you likely know it's been changed to icrontic.com

However, it's been down all day. Presently on Icrontic.com, you'll get the message "sorry, icrontic.com has been HACKED... big time. we are working to restore it. please be patient, it may be up sometime tommororow. thanks"

That's all I know...just passing it along!

This may actually be a scam, if you read what he said, he asked for money, processors, and such to "get back on his feet".

There is a BIG controversy going on with this.. at icrontic forums they are even somewhat dissing Anandtecher's.

He said he had Hard Drive experts working on his "hacked" site, but they can't do anything. What a load, HD specialists can get just about EVERYTHING off a failed HD.

Mortin (Apu's Webmaster) also asked for the following on his website when he said he was "hacked" to get back up again.

Web design - $1000
Additional Coding - $500
Giveaways to populate forums/site - $500+
Hardware for staff - $500+

He also asked for new Ultima Online servers... what a load.

Now, now, let's not get ourselves into this controversy. That teeny bopper comment was made by a person NOT representing the Apu/Icrontic community. The situation is mainly concerning allegations by HardOCP towards Apu/Icrontic, yet with the latter backed up by some reputable sites. The contoversy has already been somewhat explained in the forums there. I frequent both Anandtech and Apu/Icrontic, and am not taking sides with anybody. Since nobody can prove anything either way, give them the benefit of a doubt. No point in shooting allegations or assumptions without knowing the truth, eh?
