What terrorist plants bombs with a blinking LED figure? Great way to hide your bomb... People have no freaking common sense.
That's what they look like in the movies, duh!!!!
the bombs blink in Command & Conquer too, I've never seen a real bomb, as I'd imagine nobody on ATOT has either. If I based what I did off what I saw in movies/tv & video games I would have thought it was teh b0mb!
I was just playing C&C Generals and did the mission where they put the bombs on the bridge and blew it up killing most of my troops and destroying a lot of my tanks, don't think it can't happen in boston

What right does TNT have to use public infrastructure as billboards for a publicity stunt without at least notifying the local authorities of their intentions?
SourceIn Portland, police Sgt. Brian Schmautz said officers had no plans to remove any of the signs, so long as they weren't on municipal property. Nor had officers been dispatched in any kind of bomb scare related to the devices."At this point we wouldn't even begin an investigation, because there's no reason to believe a crime has occurred," Schmautz said.

This whole 9/11 scare crap needs to come to an end already. Yes, the people responsible for the attack should be brought to justice and there is definitely a part of me that wants revenge, but at some point we need to be reasonable. We can't continue to be scared of our own shadows because of that one event.
To put it in perspective:
The official number of fatalities from 9/11 as of 9/5/02 was 2819. That IS an awful tragedy. It also took the lives of many courageous people trying to save others in the towers. It was truly a sad day and I wanted those responsible to hang for their actions. But 6 years later we must take a look back and look at the bigger picture.
In 2001, 42,196 people were killed in car crashes. Of those, 17,400 involved alcohol.
According to the CDC, about 36,000 people die from the flu every year.
According to the FBI, 16,037 people were murdered in 2001.
According to the ACS, 553,400 people were killed by cancer in the US in 2001. Biggest of those? Lung cancer, with 157,400 fatalities.
I didn't do a long search for causes of death in 2001, but I can tell you that according to the CDC, in 2004, the leading cause of death was heart disease with 654,092 deaths. That's a truly staggering number.
Alzheimer's disease killed nearly 66,000. Septicemia killed 33 thousand (2004 statistics), you get the idea.
Where are the billions spent to prevent drunk driving? Where is the trillion dollars to fight heart disease? Maybe billions should be spent getting people off of tobacco, finding treatments for cancer and Alzheimer's disease, giving free vaccinations for the flu, researching new antibiotics to combat septicemia, providing more education and after school programs to bring down the number of murders, etc.
You are more likely to die eating your Big Mac (3,300 suffocation deaths per year), then driving home (42,000 deaths per year), assuming you don't get robbed and murdered in the parking lot (16,000 murders). Maybe you'll want to go for a swim after eating all that fat. Hope you don't have a heart attack (654,000 deaths per year) while exercising. Of course, that is if the pool itself doesn't claim you (4,000 drowning deaths per year). Maybe after swimming, you have to go take your blood pressure medication (nearly 17,000 deaths from hypertension in 1999), but be careful not to take too much (8,600 deaths per year from poisoning). Hell, with all these dangers, maybe you should just go jump off a cliff (14,900 falling deaths per year) and join the others that have done the same (29,199 suicide deaths in 1999).
I can't believe how important terrorism is to people when you are FAR, FAR more likely to die doing everyday tasks. It's time to put this thing in perspective. If we really want to spend money to prevent American deaths, then there is better value elsewhere. But I guess people are sheep.
I have never met a single person afraid of terrorism. It's just political correctness gone bad, and even though most people know what you say is true, it would be political suicide for someone to come out and say it.

I think the reason they make a big deal out of it is that terrorist attacks have a pretty negative effect on the economy... 9/11 certainly didn't help our economy which was already doing poorly. And it was even worse at the local level - lower Manhattan lost millions of square feet of office space and it was still hard to fill what was left there. It took several years to recover.

Ah yes, a "save the children", "9/11" type politician opens his absolutely stupid mouth.
Assistant Attorney General John Grossman called the light boards "bomb-like" devices and said that if they had been explosive they could have damaged transportation infrastructure in the city.
Wow. Just wow. IF they had been explosive, they could have blown things up. Genius.
That's the most absurd crap I've heard in a while. In fact, you can play Ad-Libs with that.

Some enterprising people got to the devices before police: At least seven were for sale Thursday afternoon on the Internet auction site eBay, ranging in price from $500 to $2,100.

It probably would have recovered a lot quicker without the fear mongering. It wasnt the first time we got attacked here in NYC. The funny thing about it is that it was everyone else but ny'ers who seemed most afraid.

"Turner Puts Other ?Edgy? Marketing Plans on Hold
(2007-02-01) ? A day after a Turner Broadcasting guerrilla marketing campaign for an adult cartoon put Boston on full terror alert, the company said it would reconsider other ?edgy? marketing plans it was about to launch.
Turner had placed dozens of battery-operated light boards displaying an obscene gesture throughout each of the 10 major U.S. cities. A series of Boston bomb scares sparked by the devices forced authorities to shut down roads, bridges and a section of the Charles River yesterday.
An unnamed spokesman for Turner said the company would now review plans for the following guerrilla marketing campaigns designed to ?generate buzz? about the cartoon.
? Renting a 747 painted with the show?s name and flying it past skyscrapers in major cities
? Hiring young men to show up in malls, on buses and other heavily-trafficked areas who would suddenly whip open their coats to reveal a special vest with blinking lights, and begin shouting the theme song of the show.
? ?Abducting? strangers, blindfolding them, forcing them to their knees and then broadcasting their videotaped ?confessions? that they love the cartoon.
? Hiring young men to suddenly stand up on buses and airliners and loudly declare that the new cartoon is ?da bomb.?
? Planting hundreds of improvised advertising devices (IAD) that would suddenly flash, make a loud noise and scatter thousands of promotional fliers all over the road or sidewalk.
? Mounting a ?viral? marketing campaign in which dozens of journalists would each receive an envelope containing a white powder along with a note daring the recipient to hold his breath until the debut of the new cartoon.
?Calling the White House, Pentagon, Supreme Court and other famous places and claiming to have planted a ?dirty bomb? on the front steps, which turns out to be a paper bag full of dog droppings with the show?s logo stamped on the bag.
?These promotional gimmicks are designed to appeal to the kind of adult who would stay up late to watch cartoon characters who use foul language and obscene gestures,? the Turner source said.
In related news, Turner reported that overnight ratings from Boston showed TV viewership got a big boost thanks to the panic that forced citizens to remain in their homes. The company?s CNN division also saw a large increase in viewers eager to follow news of the bomb scares."
