AquaMark 3 problems

ok heres my prob guys. Im using a 6800 evga agp 128mb. I downloaded a bunch of benchmarking programs 3dmark 03 05 2001 aquamark 3 anyways... the problem is this when using aquamark before ocing everything is fine from what i can see i ran 4 tests with it my scores were 49,107 49,057, 48,806, before oc.. then after an oc of 400/800 my first time running was 51000 some.. then after it dropped to 46000 then after when trying to do another run it locks up and my comp reboots.. obviously i thought this was a heat issue but after checking temps my card is a 61 at almost the end of the test... Also my scores stay fine on 3dmark 03 and 05 after oc aswell
as 2001 and 3d05 gets the card all the way up to 72!!! and it runs fine scores stay really close... so im lost and would apperciate any help thanks.. new to forums and comps so be kind thanks

Seriously man - it is a benchmark. Aquamark is known to be flakey, so don't worry about it. Does the card play your GAMES OK? If it does, then that is all you need to worry about. Benchmarks are affected by MANY system variables. Don't get crazy about it - use the card to play your games and let some other knucklehead worry about Aquamark.

wow thanks for the quick response man lol ya it was driving me crazy.. and games play all good accept battfield 2.. funny thing with that one is before my 6800 i had a 9800 pro 128mb and i could run it fine on all medium same with 6600gt.. but with the 6800 i ran fine at first then after it ran like utter crap really bad slow down from 90 fps to 15 all of a sudden constantly i thougt it was heat but 3dmark 05 is harder than bf2 on a system im assuming and thats all fine cs source and hl2 guild wars all play good.. btw drivers with bf2 are the new ones that just came out on nvdia.com i just went back to a 76.. havent tryed it yet though.. also i ad a 5600xt in there before blew up my 6600gt.. and just put the 6800 in without changing drivers if that matters ... oh and i see in the drivers that my card will throttle when it reaches 127 degrees and i domt think bf2 will get it that high.. unless nvidia cards throttle beofre that temp is reached idk..?? do u think my gpu is throttling itself prevent damage it reaches 72 degrees after like 10 benchmarks... oh and its battlefield demo btw and again thanks..

Nope. I don't think it is heat. If it was heat, then you'd see the same effect in 3dMark05 and since that is running fine then it is likely poor coding or some other variable in your system causing the up and down scores.

Benchmarking will drive you batty and take away meaningful time from enjoying your investment. Occasionally I use the 3dmark programs to test system stability on new builds I do by setting them to loop overnight on a new pc. That is one way I can tell if I have a happy setup for gaming. Other than that, I don't really bother with them much.

btw if you're using the latest patch for bf2 then it's not the cards fault...the new patch introduces a memory leak and that's why it's fine at first...then you run out of memory and it all goes to hell

may be a simple memory issue. both aquamark and bf2 are pretty system intensive, not just gpu intensive like 3dmark 03, 05.

thanks for reply ya i thought that but valve stress test does the same thing its weird cause the card technically shouldnt be throttling and temps dont indicate it is... odd indeed hmm actually stess test would use memory to.... only after i oc though the first run is good to go then the 2nd drop hard core 20 frames... without oc on valve stress test i get scores of 102 102.04 102.03 102.78 etc then after i oc the first run is good like 4 frame increase then after that it starts to give me results of 85 86 84 etc the card is peaking at 62 degrees so i dont think its throttling i mean it sais it does that at 127.. unless the temp are being read wrong.. cars is warm to touch only btw

Now that i though about it are u talking about the video memory?????.. im starting to think its actually the memory on the card. Memory does degrade in performance with heat right???? if thats the case my memory is only oced to 800 from 700 stock doesnt seem high.. or is it? anyone have any ideas?

aqumarks is pretty system dependent, with a64's and low end cards you can put up 50k

ya i put up 52000 with a 2500 oc to 2300ghz and a 6800
