Archiving Emails(Netscape)

Anyone have a good way of archiving emails(netscape). Its starting to take up too much space and i'd like to move it over to a cdr. Anyone know how to do this? i also need to restore from these files to look for info and don't want to continually overwrite the netscape .snm files? Or is this the only way?

assuming you install to c:\program files\netscape:

go to c:\program files\netscape\users\your profile, and backup/copy the whole mail directory

to restore it, simply put the mail directory back to where it belongs (in the above directory), but be cautious not to overwrite the files/directory if you still want to keep the contents...

if you're using netscape 6, it will be slightly different, depending on what os you're using...

thanks, yeah this is what i've been doing but i hoped there was another way. I guess I'll wait for netscape 6

actually, it's the same with netscape 6. the only difference is the directory where they are stored.... (different on NT and win98). however, it may be better not to upgrade to netscape 6 since it's full of useless things and resource hungry.... i dunno why they ended up like that, though

well, at least the mail program is better than outlook... you can see what folders you have and can view it with any text editors (unlike outlook)

also, you can rename your directory to something with time stamp, so you don't need to keep overwriting it (just keep monthly archive or something like that). no easy way to do it yet, unfortunately.....
