I've owned many AC coolers. The Freezer Pro's use a proprietary fan attached to its frame using rubber stand-offs that wear out or break after a few years, not to mention that the frame itself is also quite fragile. You may want to consider ASUS Arctic Square that's on sale at ZZF for $30 - 20 rebate (MSRP is $50).

There's been quite a few decent cooler deals lately (esp. ASUS, Zerotherm, Sunbeam/Tuniq, OCZ, to name a few).

I have this. It's a decent cooler. It's much better then the Q8200's stock cooler, but I believe there is more to be desired from a cooler of the price.

Even with using different AC compounds/pastes and applying with different methods, my CPU still hits 60-65 while at 50% gaming laod and 70C while running Prime/Linx.

FWIW: I've had my F7Pro for 3 years now and it's been in four different MBs during that time. Granted; the push-pins have worn out from too many insert/remove cycles but the fan is running fine and the cooler is still doing it's job.

It's not a top of the line cooler by any means, but it is WAY better than stock, fairly quiet even at max rpms and half the price of the next step up the cooling latter. My gaming rig (below) idles at 45C in a room that's 29C. That's pretty decent performance. When I have the AC on and the room is down to about 22C, idle drops to the high 30's. I'm using
AS5, BTW.

My Q6600 is at 1.45v; pretty steep voltage. I'd say the F7 is doing a great job.

The ASUS Arctic Square looks like a nice cooler, but unfortunately it's OOS.

yes, it's been in and out of stock, just have to keep checking. Alternatively, ZZF also has Zerotherm Zen 120 for $35 - 20 rebate. This is also an excellent cooler, performing close, if not equal, to Zerotherm's top-of-the-line Nirvana. I've always had good luck with Zerotherm's rebates. Although AC F7P is a great cooler and gives lots of bang for you buck, it's beginning to show its age. If you don't mind rebates, the Zen is a better constructed cooler, for less money.

I got one of these for my Q6600 after Anandtech's review that this comes close to matching the top of the line coolers at a drastically lower price. Personally, I'm very pleased with this cooler. The best part for me is that the thing is dead silent; a big plus in my book. I'm not an OCer so I don't have to worry about temps in that regard.

Why is your setup running so hot? I have a Q6600@3.2GHz and it's running around 40-45. I have the EP45-DS3R with 8Gig PC8500, 4 1.5TB drives, 2 DVDRW drives, SB Audigy and my 4870. All this in my cluttered Antec 900, with little paste left after so many CPU in/outs and dust buildup during the years it has given me

Maybe you don't have enough fans or airflow is bad? The P180 should be a good venting case as I built a PC for my nephew using one. Maybe it's just the Q8200 CPU, which I have no experience in. Shrug.

This cooler is actually quite fantastic for it's price. It does the job really well and I've used it almost exclusively because of it. I haven't had the need to get anything better to bring temps because temps have been low for me.

Unless you and Jlin101 really are OCing your PC like mad I say something is definitely not right or move to water?

To be honest, i have no idea. I have it directly facing the rear 120mm fan and have a 120mm fan where the mid HDD cage would be to pull air into the case. I am using a 120mm fan on the top as well. All are pointing the right direction of course ;-) I have spent so much time pulling my mobo out an making sure its mounted correctly (and it is) and constantly changing thermal pastes. And yes, i clean the cpu and HSF contact with Isopropyl alcohol thoroughly.

I'm not worried about the temps too much, but anyone who seriously overclocks should avoid this.
