I am a big fan of Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro HSF. So I bought a Freezer Pro and a a 64 Freezer Pro. I was debating if I should stay with AMD or Intel. I had really good experience with AMD Athlon 64 series.

Well that was almost a year ago, and since that time I was strictly running Intel Core2 Duo E6XX series, so the Freezer Pro it was.

Well, the anomaly, I found out was with the ASUS P5B-E with Intel P965, the Freezer Pro FAN with the 4 wire-pin connector for the CPU behaved rather strangely. Running about 500-600 RPM. So the MOBO detected the fan as being too slow and flag down the system, i.e. shut down. The work around was to IGNORE the warning and let it go. The temps were OK, i.e. 34-38 at idle and 42-48 at load. System is OC of course.

I could have set the BIOS for the fan as DISABLE the automatic fan control and the the fan will run at 2300RPM or about.

My 64 Freezer fan only a 3 pin connector so I tried that since both fans are identical in size and shape except for the label. With this 3 pin fan, the fan run at 2300 RPM continously, no automatic fan control.

My question for owners of the Artic Cooler Freezer Pro is do you experience the same phenomena or is my MB not functioning properly?

Just an intriguing problem nothing really serious since my temps and OC are both very satisfactory for my need.

most people that overclock disable qfan(variable fan speeds) and therefore will never have this problem.

is the term qfan an asus thing?

Raider1284 is right just disable fan control in the bios. your fan will run at full speed all the time. Should bring your temps down some aswell. I have the E6600 oc'd to 3.0 and my idle temps are at 28c and about 35-40c load with the freezer 7 pro

qfan is not good.. I have it on the top-of-the-line asus 939 board, and it doesn't allow the user to set a target goal for any of the temps. I don't know what it tries to keep everything @. plus, it has a tendency to spin-up fans when it is around that goal. I have an a64 freezer pro, and let speedfan control it. Does a good job.
