If I remember correctly, the Shin Etsu is AMD approved in that it won't void your warranty (the only grease I believe they allow)

But then going down that route, nearly no one's warranty would remain after using many aftermarket heatsinks

I use to use a card exclusively until I tried a baggie.

I use to make a much bigger mess with a card too and waste more.

ditto... bag much easier for me. i could get a better spread w/the bag by far!

From my experience, Ceramique's advantages (vs ASIII):
1) slightly easier to apply (its thicker).
2) pure electrical insulator (in case you accidentally get some of it on the mobo or something).
3) very cheap in 22 gram tube.
4) performance maybe a tab better.

All in all, buy Ceramique if you don't have a good compound already. If you have AS3 already, stick with it till you run out.

Info only:

Reviews I have read says AS3 is slightly better than ceramique for cooling but ceramique is soooo easy to clean off.

I used AS2 on my 1700xp+ oclocked to 2.1 with a Vantec Aeroflow and the highest temp I have seen has only been 102F.
