Regular Ass HS (A few really smart people. but most morons, not particularly hard to get straight A's)
Easy HS (The smartest people are still marginal, and getting all A's comes with an IQ over 110)
Super HS (AZN's rule and try hard and "earn" high grades, but are not particularly special, usually in wealthy areas)
Regular Private School (Rich white kids who are stupid go here to get special attention and better grades from kind teachers)
Elite Private (The uber-rich whites of average intelligence but priviledge are mixed with talented minorities, everyone gets a B+ except the minorities who are there for academic merit and being pushed from home, they get A's but have to work really hard for them)
Moral of the story: Grades don't mean ******; do something for the world and I'll give you a highfive. If not, keep trying.
Edit... to be honest, SAT scores to really tell a lot. My private school had an average SAT score around 1400, but the people with top scores near 1600 had grades anywhere from C+ to A. Plenty of people had great grades and couldn't break 1400.
ugh its true. Im in Canada, and the uni im currently in, Laurier, is pretty small but well known for its business program and ranked #1 uni in McLeans last year.
I worked my ass of in gr12, along with some pretty big deaths within the family, my father being one of them, and I only managed to come out with a low 80's average. My school is in a more ghetto area, but all the enhanced kids of the city are bussed here [Mississauga, one of the largest cities in Canada...]
Anyways, I get into the honours economics program of Laurier.. im a bit upset that I didnt get into the business admin program but i guess my marks werent top notch. I get here, and i swear a lot of these white people are total dumbasses. i am chinese-vietnamese mix, and during a meal with a bunch of people here, my neighbour, a slutty-acting but fat-ass-ugly blonde asks "so like you guys and japanese people... you're all just like... cousins right?" I stared at her in disbelief, thinking shes GOTTA be kidding right?
nope. not at all.
She got into the business admin program.
I didnt. THAT is BULLSHIT.
seems to me like white people just get an extra boost while keeping the hard working first gens
[note: she doesnt study, she wants to drop out after first semester because uni is 'too much for her' and she wants to be a dancer. so im not judging her on just that one thing. she also acts like a total dolt too]
