I've been using an ASRock Z68Pro3 with an i5-2500 for years now and it has been problem-free, I'd buy from them again.
This is the same board I have been using with an i5-2500k, and I just realized that I have been using it without a single issue for over five years! I have never had a computer last that long.

I first took a chance on ASRock because they had the only well-reviewed board with both PCI-E and AGP8X slots. I had a fairly new AGP board that I wanted to keep for awhile, so I took a chance. I don't build many computers any more as for most uses, the pre-builds are just as good for a lot less money, but I have used maybe a couple dozen ASRock boards since. I have never gotten a bad one, or had one fail - and when you build as a favor, you are tech support for life! I have never even contacted ASRock tech support - something I cannot say for ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, or the many brands I used back in the day which have since faded away.

Having started with ASRock as ASUS's cheapo brand, complete with Engrish instructions and often crude BIOS, it seems so weird to realize that I would be willing to pay a premium for their boards.

My concern about many of the higher end Asrock boards is the lack of rear USB 2 ports. I've read that some peripherals such as keyboards and mice can have issues when plugged in to USB 3 ports. I'm not sure if and how often this really manifests itself and if there are any work arounds.

Vaguely I thought I read that there was an option to make usb 3 ports usb 2 in the bios but i could be mistaken. I think the big problem is that windows doesn't support usb 3 until drivers are installed (my newest asrock board is a linux machine and linux is not quite so brain dead).

I recently purchased a Z170M Extreme4 for my new build and have been happy with it so far. It has only been a few weeks though. BIOS is fairly easy too use and it was a painless process to oc my 6700k too 4.4 and load the XMP profile for my 3000 cl15 ram. A recent BIOS release also updated to include Kabylake cpus and ram compatibility.
The only hesitation I have is their ability to provide customer support or rma services. This is loosely based on my 2 month wait too receive a $30 rebate for the board. Multiple calls and emails to CS have left me with no information on the status of the rebate, a department too call about the issue, or anyone that seems concerned with it. At this point I think I am sol.
This leaves me wondering what might happen if I ever need to return the board under warranty,

I think asrock is asus sister company. I think is a hit or miss kinda thing. I've had issues with both companies before. I personally like asus

I like asus also and to be honest i don't know why i picked asrock when i was building the PC. I don't regret of course Z77 not so good but z97 so far isn't making any issues

Supermicro and ASRock boards are my preference.
Used Intel before that.
Mission critical needs, not overclocking, even though they support those features.
Thick PCBs allow long life.
Z97s are still being used and Windows 7.
Not a big fan of chasing driver updates.
