anyway, Bose makes nice professional, noise cancelling headphones for things like helicopter pilots and such. They dont make great consumer products, but aren't terrible.

imho for cost vs quality, sennheiser has the best $100 cans.

They are better than the usual crap people ruin their ears with, but at $400 you should be looking at a real brand like sennheiser. I snagged a pair of hd650s for less than 400 and they put beats to shame.

People can write a paper of how great X brand vs. Y brand is, but to me Beats is definitely a Monster Cable of headphones.

That's funny...

There is a thread in the A/V forum about which noise cancelling headphones are the best for traveling and the Bose QC15's seems to be the most highly recommended ones, even from the Bose haters....

I love my 8 year old QC'3 BOSE headphones they make my airline seat my own little bubble where i dont hear shit but the music or the movie i am watching. all you haters can suck a lemon.

at the $100 price point i would say audio technica ad700

I have used a pair of these, the clarity is excellent, however they definitely need a bass biased sound profile as they are lacking a bit in this category.

I've got a pair of open air Audio Tech. and I like them a lot. I refuse to go up to the next class and spend a ton of money, so I'm pretty happy with what these have offered.

I was able to get a pair of Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10s on Amazon during their Gold Box sales for $100. They retail at almost $500. One of the greatest purchases I've ever made.

I had my TF10 redone to a different color and wood face plate a few months ago.

Same here. They are a fun listen and not too fatiguing. Much better than anything Bose will ever produce. I still wear mine occasionally along with the best sounding MP3/FLAC player under $30, the Sansa Clip Zip.

I got a pair too, probably the better of the earbuds out there. I don't like the wire though, too stiff. Sound wise they sound fine but I don't seem to like the sound that most audiophiles do, to me it's bland. they don't hold the air tight seal in my ear too well however. I paid around $150 a year or so ago and plenty of sources to find them far below msrp, no clue where they came up with that price from. I only use them when I mow my lawn cause I don't want to advertise any kind of well known brand to my neighborhood. Their ok, I'm not wowed by them.

I also had the Bose in ear, I like the wire better however the sheath grips, so when it tangles up it tends to cause friction making it harder to just pull the wires to untangle. How it sits in the ear is very comfortable, but can still fatigue after a while and doesn't hold an air tight seal. Sound had a little more warmer sound which I prefer but they didn't stay in my ear well at all, gave them to wife but she ended up replacing them with skull candy cause they were in Pink...priorities ya know.

Ideally, it's a custom made mold so you have an airtight seal that makes all the difference to any in ear buds.
Speaking of Beats, I think the solo on ear versions do fatigue a lot more than the Bose on ear's which I found pretty comfy for long periods, not sure which I prefer better. People like to bash both brands but they should understand that some people just prefer their warmer sound characteristics.

I want to do this when I get more money. How much did the molding/fitting cost?

What company did you use as well?

The molds were $50 from a local Audiologist. You have to shop around, I have seen some insane pricing. As for the reshells, they are from Inearz, they have done them for me twice. I had a different look with my first design. I also bought my best cable so far, I have tried quite a few.

Those are one of my favorite closed-back sets but if you can go with an open-back set, Grado Labs all the way!!

I really like my SR-60s. Only problem is the pads suck and are expensive to replace. I'm not paying $15 for $0.15 worth of foam rubber.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to get a really good pair of headphones or buds. The Beats are overpriced and really too bassy to be used for anything but hip hop.
