Are car windows UV protected?

I've been more careful about protecting my skin from sun damage lately, and am considering getting clear UV tints for my windshield to prevent myself from burning and tanning. I'm not sure if I should go ahead and get them though... because I don't want to get UV film for my windshield if car windows already block out UV rays without tints and UV protectors. What do you guys think?

I think windshields are at least. I have a frisbee that turns purple in sunlight and it wouldn't inside cars. By the way, don't use sunscreen, they're full of dangerous chemicals.

Most glass is pretty opaque in the UV. UV transparent glass is rather expensive...

Is UV what causes skin cancer? I've heard from doctors that way more people get skin cancer on the left side of their face than the right due to driving their cars.

Regardless of the source, sunscreen can have some nasty ass stuff in it. I had a bottle of it in my trunk fall over and spill onto one of those rigid plastic mousepads. It ate the mousepad. Every spot the sunscreen touched turned all soft and gooey...I had to throw the pad out.

I'm gonna have to disagree. Why is there such a huge market for UV filters for cameras?

Richard Feynman supposedly looked at the Trinity Test through a car window shield because it would block out the UV rays and allow him to not wear welders glasses.

So I mean, if you can look at the destructive force of hell itself and not burn your eyes I think your skin will stay pasty?

No they aren't. Glass blocks some bands of UV, but not all of it. What amazes me though is people care more about their skin than their eyes...
