Are cars overpriced?

The big secret in car reviews is that the *vast* majority of reviewers have no idea how to drive well.

They're just some dudes on an expenses-paid press junket that say stuff about a car after driving it 50 miles on pristine roads and a couple slow laps on a track.

See, that's the problem. Nobody is really trying to build a car for the cheapskates anymore.

I personally wouldn't want one (especially the first model year!), but there are people who would.

If anything, it would help to keep competing cars like the Nissan Versa cheap.

I agree, if the quality is reasonable and the manufacturer is stable it might be a possibility. There have been horror stories of course, the first Hyundai Excel was a nightmare, ate transmissions like Homer Simpson eats donuts. Then of course the Yugo, I knew a girl that bought one, 2 months later it kept popping out of 5th gear so she took it back to the dealer who told her "we can't get parts for it" then advised her to "keep your hand on the shifter when it's in 5th"...
