I said I was 3/4ths certain just to say I was leaning towards this belief, but that I had doubts. It wasn't meant to be scientific value by any means. Sorry if you interpreted it to mean anything else.

Your first post seemed to be very judgemental, as if you were arguing from a more enlightened position, when your logic/science was as much "bad science" as mine was, and definitely no more valid or provable. I'm not convinced one way or another either, however.

BTW, with Bonobo's homesexuality exists, but sex in bonobo's is a major form of communication, in a way totally unlike humans, as you probably already know. In fact, the use of sex in bonobos is perhaps unlike any other primate species. However, dolphins would be a good example.

ROFL. that's funny Red Dawn. That sounds like a real quote!

That leads me to wonder, given that we are 98+% chimpanzee, if homosexuality in the Bonobo and humans isn't of the same origin even if not now societally relevant as a form of communication.

I also think that people are born with some medical condition, lack of some DNA, or somthing else that gives them very strong gay orientation.

Personally I believe people are born gay. As it has been said before, who would choose to be a member of segment of modern society that is rideculed and hated by a good percentage of the rest of society? I am sure there are some that "choose" to engage in homosexual activities to get attention, but you have that with anything else be it politics, etc...

As far as it not being a sound reproductive strategy, has anyone stopped to think that that may be the whole point? Obviously, if one is homosexual, one would be a nonbreeder. (Though now this is not always the case with sperm banks and all) Seeing how there are 6 billion and climbing people on this planet, it could just be yet another limiting factor on the human population. Float enough nonbreeders out there and the population will attrit itself. In theory anyways. And as far as limiting factors go, it would be a kind one as opposed to starvation, or disease.

This is a very interesting idea. One could even attach a greater social implication to it.

Hey Rasputin, did you know that going bald is a genetically inherited from the female side, yet how many bald blokes have bald mums? I'd say virtually none. Its actually quite common for people to inherit traits that their parents appear not to have. Also many Inherited traits are recessive & need genes from both parents before they come to the surface. Look at the gene for 'Sickle Cell Aneamia' 10% of blacks (well blacks of a certain ethinicity) & Pakistanies inherit that gene from one parent, & all it does ids give them immunity from Malaria, however 1% of blacks (of the required ethinicity) & Pakistanies inherit the gene from both parents (10% of 10% is 1%) & that's when they suffer the disease of 'Sickle Cell Ameania'

<< If you are really interested, you can check out the bonobo chimp, our closest relatives. >>

Are you saying that you and others in this discussion are related to a chimp?

Hmmmm...I now understand.

Well it does seem rather odd, MrPALCO, if you approach this without preconceptions, that our DNA and the of the Chimp matches at above 98%. The obvious conclusion is that we are chimps, since mice that deviate by 10% are still clasified as varieties of the same species. This reasoning, I realize, appeals only to minds with a commitment to let the chimps fall where they may.

I grew up with a good friend in his late 30's who's gay. I'll never believe that this lifestyle was a choice.

He didn't tell a soul that he was gay until he was 35 years old. Until then, he remained silent, keeping all of his ideas and partners a secret from his straight life and those in it. He had a nervous problem and shook on a regular basis. When he finally "came out," disclosing his sexuality (which by 35, most of us had guessed) the shaking ceased. We even laughed more because we were "checking out" the same men.

What's odd is that my particular insight into his sexuality, before he disclosed it, was based on the shape of his body. He seemed to hold weight similar to a woman, near the thighs and abdominal region, not in the "gut" as most men do. His leg hair was scarce and soft. I do believe there is a certain gene that determines how we're attracted to people, but hey, who knows. I still like him, he's welcome in my home. Do I want details like I get from my girlfriends, well frankly, no.

First of all, when you say "we", please leave me out.

As it is Written, I am made in the image of God.

You must realize that a 2% difference in the genetic code of Mans body...provides a marked difference.

What you fail to factor into the makeup of Man...is the Spirit and Soul portion.

If you and others continue to deny that Man IS a Spirit....He has a Soul(which includes the Mind, Will and Emotions)..and lastly, has a temporary physical body(which will be reconstituted at the proper Time)...You will always fall back to the Body of Man alone, to determine our Origin.....which will not deliver the real answer.

I would agree that the 1+% seems to make the experience of God possible. I would agree that to have such an experience changes everything. I doubt claims of exclucivity since it happens everywhere.

If you mean me expand, Mr. PALCO, I pretty much always do expand on that. I gotta go see my Mommy now though and finish up working with my chain saw. Maybe soon.

DaBanshee,

Good point about sickle-cell anemia, as Moonbeam already stated earlier in the thread. However, even if it were recessive on a single gene, over enough generations it could and probably would be selected out, unless the carriers had some advantage over non-carriers. I was aware of balding being carried on the X gene, but if balding men didn't reproduce, how long do you think it would take before there were no women carrying that gene? That, said genetics is grey enough, you can't possibly know for sure if it were genetic and sustainable anyway, or not.

I really don't care if gays are born that way or if they choose to be that way. I hate the f*ckers and I think that they are extremely sick indivduals that need to be enlightened on what they want!! :|
