Some recent theories have been suggested that the reason we began to farm grains instead of just eating them when found, was in order to make beer.

Sure it meant that we could now make more food than we needed but it may have been the search for a drug that prompted farming.
Much like the effect of tobacco on the origins of the USA, mans search for mind altering substances have spurred many changes in history.
I have read that as well and I believe it is one of the reasons as well.
Awww did the truth get to you that you are a complete puss?yeah but he's dead now so he obviously did something wrong
You are hilarious!
That's not the way any humans hunted.
Well, any successful ones...
Where do you get these crazy theories?
.Wow.
That's known as "persistence hunting" and is accomplished over the course of several days.
This is quite different than the "sprint and catch" boloney that others have promoted.
Yes, indeed. And on the flip side, look at Rome. One of the most blood thirsty groups that ever existed. I believe I heard something about them falling, if I am not mistaken.
What is the real point to this thread?
Can you become a vegetarian? Yes
Were humans meant to eat meat? Yes
Can you (with that super large, evolved brain of yours) decide that you don't want to dine on mystery meat with an unknown source as far as possible from the ancestral hunt which has been mentioned? Absolutely.
your information is wrong. The more I read about how our bodies are more anatomically similar to herbivores makes me wonder if I should become a vegetarian.
Eggs and fish are just too tasty to give up though.

that is not what humans did.Humans are not the fastest animals, but we evolved to be very efficient at long distance running - no fur, and sweating keeps body temperature in check while chasing an animal across the african savanna until it collapsed from exhaustion and the humans have plenty of steam left.
Did you even watch the video?that is not what humans did.
first, humans were opportune hunters/gatherers. If it didn't require loads of work or energy, we choose that first. We would attack a termite mound before risking a long chase and possible theft of prey by other, more vicious predators. In a harsh environment, you do not waste precious calories unless the payoff is worth it.
A human would collapse from exhaustion before any prey animal would. What we did do was use our advanced thinking abilities. We hunted in groups. We used weapons to not only extend our reach but also because a human is not built for a violent fight against a much larger animal.

hominid paleontology says I am correct.david attenborough says otherwise...
There seems to be a number of sources that suggest early hominids were more carrion (marrow) eaters than hunters. We mostlikely did not attain the ability to hunt until after we developed tools. This of course required the larger brains, which developed due to the omnivorous diet.hominid paleontology says I am correct.
I speak of ancient humans and earlier hominids. More modern humans (last 50,000 years or so) are different.
I have to say, i tried some Vegie food, the fake meat stuff from MorningStar. anyway, i had some chicken nuggets and they looked and tasted much like the real thing, tried some hot dogs, sausage and something else and they tasted great. Expensive though, but you can't even tell its not real meat.
Humans truly are omnivores. PETA much?
That said, I don't eat meat.. and never ate meat in my life.
Hehe. Sadly, I don't know how it tastes like.
QFT
I adopted a vegetarian diet about a month ago, and it was 98% because it really hit home that most meat that humans eat today are filled with dead insects, feces, and unknown chemicals, it wasn't even because i'm some huge animal rights activist, not at all. People can defend themselves all they want, and I really couldn't care less what you decide to put in your body. It's fine and I do not judge anyone else. I just choose to only eat meat that I am sure is clean and has been prepared the way it was meant to be prepared for human consumption.
What's more, is that even back in the day, humans probably only ate meat on very special occasions, very rarely, and very sparingly. I think we eat way too much meat way too often these days.
