That is stupid of them to do period. They can expect no more mass surrenders of Iraqi soldiers and policemen in the future. They have now made it clear that it is better to die fighting against them to the bitter end then it is to simply grant them an easy win on the battle field by surrendering. This is militarily a huge mistake on their part.

Jews marched into gas chambers and concentration camps for 3 years. Everyone knows whats going to happen when Mexican cartels roll into town yet there are still mass executions. Easier said than done it seems.

What do you do when they have lists they raided of all former soldiers, and govt officials. Show up at your house in force. Your house with your children, wife, and perhaps extended family and say come with us or everyone dies? You go.

When your foe is carrying out open air executions, it does tend to put a damper on your morale.

The ISIS guys are some bad dudes.

Note the gun and optic...

Yeah I saw these images at huff post last night. Nice M16 in that last pic. Wonder if that was one we gave the jihadis in Syria or they raided from stores we gave Iraq? Also look at the glock and outfit from man about to execute fat man in the suit. Look like a US troop.

Not really. They are trying to cement the Shia/Sunni divide and get a full on sectarian war going.

They are after a new state in eastern Syria/western Iraq and the best way to do that is to make a permanent armed conflict twixt the Shia and Sunni Muslims.

We are in a weird position where the Wests allies seem to be Iran and the Assad regime in Syria.

Did you know France has the best military record in the world?

French is like the language of war

battalion, dragoon, infantry, cavalry, army, artillery, corvette, musketeer, carabineer, pistol, fusilier, squad, squadron, platoon, brigade, corps, sortie, reconnaissance/reconnoitre, surveillance, rendezvous, espionage, volley, siege, terrain, troop, camouflage, logistics, accoutrements, bivouac, aide-de-camp, legionnaire, morale, esprit de corps. sergeant, lieutenant, captain, colonel, general, admiral.

Best military record in what respect? Winning of individual battles? Winning of overall conflicts? Accomplishing strategic aims?

Also, record compared to whom? Current contemporary countries? All historical entities (because it would be hard to be better than Alexander the Great's Empire with it's 100 percent win ratio...)?

Maybe I should of said best record in Europe, the world may of been too much to prove

The military history of France encompasses an immense panorama of conflicts and struggles extending for more than 2,000 years across areas including modern France, greater Europe, and French territorial possessions overseas. According to the British historian Niall Ferguson, France has participated in 168 major European wars since 387 BC, out of which they have won 109, drawn 10 and lost 49: this makes France the most successful military power in European history - in terms of number of fought and won.[4]

The Gallo-Roman conflict predominated from 60 BC to 50 BC, with the Romans emerging victorious in the conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar. After the decline of the Roman Empire, a Germanic tribe known as the Franks took control of Gaul by defeating competing tribes. The "land of Francia," from which France gets its name, had high points of expansion under kings Clovis I and Charlemagne. In the Middle Ages, rivalries with England and the Holy Roman Empire prompted major conflicts such as the Norman Conquest and the Hundred Years' War. With an increasingly centralized monarchy, the first standing army since Roman times, and the use of artillery, France expelled the English from its territory and came out of the Middle Ages as the most powerful nation in Europe, only to lose that status to Spain following defeat in the Italian Wars. The Wars of Religion crippled France in the late 16th century, but a major victory over Spain in the Thirty Years' War made France the most powerful nation on the continent once more. In parallel, France developed its first colonial empire in Asia, Africa, and in the Americas. Under Louis XIV, France achieved military supremacy over its rivals, but escalating conflicts against increasingly powerful enemy coalitions checked French ambitions and left the kingdom bankrupt at the opening of the 18th century.[4]

If Dubya never interfered..and spent a gajillion of every American's tax dollars.and got a whole truckload of cash poofed..this would not be happening right now.
We never had any business over there..and we still don't.
Except that it's worse cuz of what Bush did..idk..
Please don't get Obama involved in it..That would spell double-fail.

However Shia in Iraq out-number Sunnis by a good margin. Additionally they have also gone after and attacked Kurdish elements in Northern Iraq. Additionally this will now make the Iraqi government more then likely to seek support from Iran (who will have no problem delivering support to the now Shia dominate government) and maybe even find common ground with Syria's regime (in Syria they have also killed Christians, Shia and anyone else that they have deemed impure) which is also fighting the ISIS. They are creating a sea of enemies via their own idiotic barbarism and their "Islamic Sunni" state will be a short lived one.

the US spent 10+ yrs and $BILLIONS$ on training Iraq police and military.

they have no problems fighting when US soldiers were also in the fire fight.

but w/o the US, they retreat often.

and now the entire freaking police and military of the 2nd largest city in Iraq runs?!

WTF? cowards? or...?

Entire battalions of ISIS troops are dressed in US/Iraqi Army gear.

At this point, much of ISIS' men are equipped as well as US Soldiers. They have night vision, etc. It's seriously not funny.

Yup. The becomes more problematic when you have US air assets trying to target ISIS fighters engaged against Iraqi or other friendly troops. Those IA uniforms have IR tags on them just like US uniforms. Those are traditionally used by CAS & CCA to locate friendly troops and ensure they don't fire on them. When everyone has sparkles and you're working through an Iraqi JTAC, or with no contact on the ground at all, things can get confusing.

why are you canucks so quick to defend the cancer called Islam?

We come off as having more real American values then lot's of posters here eh

Honoring Muslim American Veterans on Memorial Day

Captain Khan and Ayman Taha are just two of the many Muslim Americans who have died fighting for the country that they love. In fact, the history of Muslim Americans' service in the United States armed forces goes back to the founding of the country in the American Revolution.

Under George Washington, several Muslim Americans served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Bampett Muhammad, for example, fought for the "Virginia Line" between 1775 and 1783. History also denotes a man named Yusuf Ben Ali, referred to by his slave name Joseph Benhaley. Ben Ali was descended from North African Arabs and served as an aide to General Thomas Sumter in South Carolina.

Thanks for being appropriately dickish and living up to 3 or 4 stereotypes at once. It certainly made my day brighter.

I only count possibly two, maybe two and a half stereotypes. Unless you are thinking in that damn metric system, then it's closer to four.

your brainwashing is scary.

Remember last week or so when you told me to fuck off because I believed that people who have been raised in war zone could be tougher then some American males.
If you believe that all American males are born with some sort of superior genetic coding, then why don't it apply to Muslims born in America?

How's that? We're a nation born from one religion casting out another and raised in warfare from the outset. I wish only that we still had the national moral certainty to carry out a proper campaign against a Muslim enemy as we did in the Philippines in the early 20th century.
