Kingston is synonomous with high quality and stability. While I have no experience with mushkin or corsair Anandetch promotes it religously so they can't be bad either. Don't buy Crucial whatever you do.

Both are good. Kingston is probably the better of the two. You can't go wrong with the Corsair or Mushkin that everone raves about on here. I have never used it myself, though. I only use Micron/Crucial in my own systems. Many others swear by it as well. But, I recently acquired a stick of PC100 Infineon and it's very high quality.

I don't like PNY too much. I have had trouble with some of their memory in some systems. Kingston is pretty good but my new 256MB PC133 has to be run at the slowest settings if run at 133.

I would not buy kingston pc-133, I brought a kingston pc133 valueram, & there sure was value in it, it runs at cas3 & I couldn't set the speed in the bios for sdram higher than medium on both a asus p3v4x & soyo7vca, when I changed to another brand I was finally able to set the speed to turbo mode.

It boils down to what you like. I won't buy anything but crucial. But as you've seen here everyone has a different opinion. It depends on what your going to do with it. You can't go wrong with Crucial,Kingston or Mushkin.

Don't buy Crucial whatever you do.

You rarely see anyone make a statment like that....would you enlighten us jaydee?

Mosel Vitalic, Crucial/Micron, and Siemens/Infineon are some of the best chips on the market, and o/c extremely well. Countless reviews will typically place these 3 mfg's on top almost everytime.

I shoulda said "I would't buy Crucial if I were you". The reason being I heard from an extremely trustworthy friend that crucial takes Kingston chips and puts them with generic pcb's. That and I know that there prices are higher than most others. If you other guys use and like it great but I still wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who asks for an opinion.

Dang... your right... Checked their site and all... One more thing though: aren't micron and crucial two different company's?

Crucial is a subsidery of Micron. I've got my crucial -7e ram running 150mhz at 2-2-2 with fast setting. Its some damn nice ram. *Only* $140 too.

Kingston is good too. They modules with vc-133 chips. For 133a boards vc-133 ram is the fastest.

Kingston makes good memory, PNY is so so. I have a stick of Kingston PC100 cas2 that is running flawlessly at 133, good quality ram! Crucial is excellent ram, I don't know why people are saying bad things about it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Crucial ram.

I have two 128 MB CAS-2 Crucial sticks in my ASUS P3V4X, and they rock for my Cel-2 566->850. My Gigabyte GA-71X/Athlon 600 however, puked with both of them i.e. wouldn't even finish a clean install of windows. Funny thing is, 3 cheap 64 MB single-sided Southland Micro DIMMS run great in that board. Athlon MB are funny like that though.....

hi ron.

there are several GOOD types of RAM, and each manufacturer makes several levels or RAM. some are cheap, some are excellent. "value"RAM is just that, cheap!

anandtech has published many articles on RAM. those "brands" usually hold their quality.
