use one with salycic acid.
shit, talk about dry skin.
I can't touch that stuff unless I want to flake and peel. When growing up with mild acne, I had got into using it in various face products quite frequently, and it took me a little awhile to start figuring out that those face products were making things worse, not better. I was creating my own feedback loop of acne and dry skin.
Started just getting around to rinsing my face/splashing water on it throughout the day. Just enough to start removing some of the excess oil, but apparently not all of it, which was what helps keep skin healthy if done right.
Back when I noticed that, was about the same time I was noticing that different bar soaps, and then body washes, left my skin dry as well. Especially in the winter (or, very noticeable in the winter, barely apparent in the summer).
I grew up with Lever 2000, and I felt like that was always leaving my skin feeling dry and weird feeling. Tried many different body washes over the years, both annoyed by the scents and that most weren't feeling much better, or were more drying, or even just less effective, than others.
Recently, I've been stuck on Dove Men's Care body wash. I've been using the most minimally scented one, imho, Clean Comfort (I think?). It's mild scented, and seems to really do a good job with cleaning, yet does the best job of all soap/body washes I've tried in terms of not leaving my skin flaking dry.
I had a similar issue with shampoos - many were drying my hair and scalp out, more by scalp than anything most likely. It would itch and flake. I introduced a dandruff conditioner and it seemed to help, but overall wasn't getting much improvement.
I switched to Clear (Men's) 2 in 1 and everything has been good since.
I hate, HATE, I can't get away with the cheap products. But while they might clean, they make things worse for me. I think I have skin dryness issues, however, but if I can help manage the problem at the start by just washing right, I'm happy. That's less greasy lotion to worry about.
Though in the winter, I still require hand lotion. I'll crack and bleed on/in-between my knuckles. It fucking sucks. I hate Ohio winters - cold and dry ass air. Really makes running outside a bitch. Can't say I'm really a fan of the "all I can smell and taste is blood" experience after running in that dead winter air.
