Anyone ever went to NYC, what do you guys think about meter maids? I've had quite a few bad experiences. Especially the no standing zones, they really get you.

Some examples I've seen.
You are dropping someone off and taking stuff out of your car they will give you a ticket while your there.

A man helps his grandmother out of the car, the meter maid writes him a ticket while he's doing that.

Edit: You would think they could provide some leniency if you're in the car.

Another one, you go shopping, have your friends wait for you bring the car out front so that you can put the stuff in and bam.. you're ticketed.

Edit 2: One I experienced. I had 3 minutes left on the parking meter and they ticketed me anyway.

No, the guys who ganged up on me 4 on 1, punched me in the face, and tried to steal my car are definitely lower.

If you're blocking traffic while doing those, a ticket is well deserved. I think it all depends on the circumstance

If you're not blocking traffic? If you're just parked in a "commercial parking spot" lets say for under a minute?

After seeing so many examples, I would think you would stop parking where you're not suppose to.

Any guy whose job description contains the word "maid" is automatically one of the lowest forms of life.

Wait till you come to NYC, you'll see how bad they are. Hell, every cop I know hates them as well. It really does ruin the economy here.

Isn't that downright illegal? You fought it, right?

BTW, from what I heard meter maids are those that failed the Police Academy. So right off the bat they are disgruntled.

It's a job, Im sure if it wasn't their job, they wouldnt care where you parked. If the city offered you $50 per hour to be a meter maid, you'd be one too (not that they get $50/hr.)

Nah, the people who whine incessantly about getting tickets are...

They're only doing the job they were hired to do, raising revenue for the city...Don't like parking tickets? Stop parking illegally.

ROFLMAO! not hardly. But, if you break the laws, you should expect to get busted for it occasionally...Like speeding...most likely, (unless you have VERY bad luck) you have gotten away with it many times without a ticket, so b*tching when you get one makes you look childish...You play the odds...some times YOU win, other times, THEY win...
