Hmm... does that mean my desk (no mousepad) or even my jeans are considered hardware when running my mouse over them? No offense, but this is an incredibly pointless question.

A mousepad is not a machine by any definition, and therefore is not hardware. It's furniture, at best.

I phrased it that way because I put it in the "General Hardware" catergory. If everyone else thought the post was "pointless", they probably wouldn't have replied. maybe that's what you should have done. No offense.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Does anyone know if the icemat can be ordered from anywhere other than the main site? It's in Denmark and I don't know what the exchange rate would be. Has anyone ordered directly form them?

thanks.

Actually, I was targetting my reply at the people who were actually giving arguments that mousepads are hardware, not your original post. Sorry if it came off the wrong way, hehe. I wish I could "bold" my smilies so people understand facetiousness where implied.

I like my ratpadz
I may wait and see what their new line of pads are like. Or I may just go ahead and get an icemat if I can find it for a reasonable price.
If anyone has one and could take some pics, I'd appreciate it. I know it's just basically a piece of glass but the pics on the site aren't very detailed.

thaks for the links to the reviews Mem. I have seen some of them as Iv'e researched since this thread started. I'm mainly looking for a US online store so I can possibly get one. SOmeone mentioned newegg earlier (oos) and I even found their US site icemat.net but they are out of stock aslo.
I'll keep checking.

I have a 3M PMS and a sUrface 1030 and the sUrface 1030 definitely is the best IMO. I have heard of some issues with optical mice on a 3M PMS pad, but my old Logitech optical works fine on it. I used to use a Razer Boomslang on my sUrface 1030, but it broke so I use a MX500 now. It's great cause there are 2 surfaces you can pick from, one totally smooth, and one with a little more texture. I havent had any warping issues with the rubber base and I've had mine for about 3 years now. At $20 it is kinda expensive, but I dont see mine wearing out anytime within the next 5-10 years, if ever. You can easily wash it with soap and water too.

I've tried almost all "high performance" mousing surfaces, and I'd have to say the fUnc 1030 surface is definately the best (way better than ratpadz). I have no idea how that one sirs fUnc got warped like that, must have done something to it...

Another vote for the Func 1030. I've been using it for a year and half and the service shows almost no wear on it.

However my rubber base has warped just like imported's base, just the bottom not the side.
