I'm running:
2500k cpu
Phanteks PH-TC14PE heatsink - default 2x140mm fans (http://www.phanteks.com/index.php?p=products_3&id=27&cate=1)
Cooler Master Storm Trooper Case - default fan system (2x120mm front intake, 140mm top exhaust, 140mm rear exhaust) (http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=3054).
My setup is reclining chair, hdtv, computer. The computer sits 6 feet away. I barely hear the fans and they run 100% all the time. I run a mild overclock (default auto overclock from my asus p8z68pro gen 3 mobo) and I don't yet have a video card (my 670 is in the middle of an rma).
I ran prime 95 at 8kb setting for 8 hours and here is realtemp recording:
I was considering getting:
2x120mm Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPro PL-2 case fans for the side intake (http://www.amazon.com/Noiseblocker-N...d=8JEPC40YMI1Y)
1x140mm cpu fan to complete the heatsink setup - (http://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-PH-F1...d=8JEPC40YMI1Y)
My GPU (once rma completed) will be a gigabyte windforce 670. I will also likely overclock more robustly in the future. I don't care terribly about noise being ultra quiet, I just want to make sure the system runs cool for extended life of components.
Would it be overkill to get the additional fans?
