- Dear AnanTech forum staff,

Are new users allowed to edit / personalize signatures?

I can't find the appropriate section in my User CP.

Also, the AnandTech Forum Guidelines sticky doesn't state anything about it as well.

- Best regards,
Samuel

OK, now most of you are trolling. Time to lock it up If some of you have real questions about your inability to put a sig when your 25 posts are current, post the questions to the moderators and we will try to fix it.

Unfortunately some of our posters cannot keep their trolling/neffing posts out of PFI. You must forgive them for they cannot help themselves. The were born to do this as it seems that is their purpose on this planet.

There are a certain amount of posts that must be made before you can have a sig. I don't remember what it is, and the announcement seems to be gone now.

Thank you, erikistired.

@Forum's staff:
Would be nice just to know what's the threshold for that.

On a side note:
I'm sure the subject has been discussed to fine grains of sand by now,
but wouldn't it be more productive to allow new users who actually know a thing or two about forum ethics to have their system specs posted?

Best regards,
Samuel

Hi Quantum;

Signatures are enabled once a member has 25 posts.

Considering how little bearing system specs have on most posts, I don't see how this would be more productive.

Nobody knows you from the man in the moon....you say you know about system specs but do you really?

Also if we google Quantum Systems...we get...Quantum Systems provides custom development and consulting services for Microsoft environments and platforms. We are located in the Indianapolis IN market. ...

Your first post and you want to add a signature and probably information about your buisness and what not.....

There are reasons that you have to wait 25 posts in....

We actually were allowing signatures starting with the first post up until a couple months ago. The reason for this change was... spammers.
*25 isn't really that many posts for a contributing member
*25 is more effort than most spammers are willing to put out
*we can usually identify most spammers before they reach their 25th post

Apologies for not allowing signatures right off the bat any more, but even with all the anti-spam tools we had, we needed to resort to this tool also to help control it.

Unless they can be verified on wikipedia your "facts" mean nothing to me.
\\wikipedia is not 100% factual..lol

Now what does erikistired's sig have to do with the question at hand? Looks like a threadcrap to me. If you can't add to the discussion. stay out of here.

Signatures are enabled once a member has 25 posts.
You might add that info to the FAQ item about signatures.
http://forums.anandtech.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_signatures_avatars

FAQ contains currently advice about editing the signature, but the 25 message limit is not mentioned. And that leaves new users to wonder about it, as the offered link to "Edit signature" leads just to a message that "you are not permitted to have a signature". Clearly stating that 25-message limit would clarify things for newbies.

I think he probably understood the first time you posted.
We don't need cut and paste from a wannabe mod.

He wanted to advertise for his company and the sig rule prevented exactly what it was suppose to prevent!!

So please crawl back under the rock where you came from!!

it's not really that hard to bust out 25 posts if all he wanted to do was add some info about his business. i mean, he took the time to inquire about the rule in the first place, that's more than most spammers will do.

true but his subsequent action after asking the question, justify the mods rule about 25 posts.......
If he was genuinely happy with the mods response you would think that he would post......

you're right, you would think he would. he also posted what seemed to be canned responses. oh well, he doesn't seem to be around anymore, so i guess it doesn't matter.
