Are rebates still a scam? What % actually send a check?

In my experience, most rebates are scams, and you never even get the check.
But, you only realize it like a year later. That's why rebates are for suckers, and I don't EVER do rebates. What's been your experience? I was even scammed by Microsoft for some rebate many years ago, when they were introducing some payment system, I think.

+1 If you think you can submit a rebate form and forget about it, and then complain in 6 months if nothing happens, then don't bother. Stay on top of it (e-mails, phone calls if necessary), and they pay every time in my experience.

I did a lot more rebates back in the day but I typically get the check. I can only recall once instance where it never showed up.

Same here, 100%.

Blaming the vendors for your inability to follow the instructions when you submit the paperwork is kinda sad. People never want to accept the blame, when they are the one that didn't follow instructions.

I've never sent in a rebate on anything, as I refuse to buy any product with a mail in rebate attached. Just say no, and they'll stop doing it.

Exactly... Or screw it up and get denied because they forget to sign. Some rebates require a signature while others do not.
