Yes, it is affecting me indirectly.
My wifes kids live right at the poverty level. They decided not to go to college, 2 work in retail, one works in a doctors office. As the price of gas goes up, they ask to borrow money more often. Its not that they have credit cards or massive debt, they just can not even pay their most basic bills anymore.
One family member has his hand out all the time. He and his wife bought a rather large SUV a few months ago - gas mileage was not even considered. Now they are having problems even buying food for the kids, or even having money for gas week to week.
One of the kids is going to a nurse certification class, so I am hoping that person gets a raise sometime soon.
My wife and I have have started limiting our driving since the price of fuel started going up.
