are SiS Mirage 3+ IGPs any good?

Hi. I saw some very cheap laptops with Core 2 Duo processors, but which have SiS Mirage 3+ integrated graphics. I'm figuring the whole chipset is SiS. I know I'm not going to be able to play games on them, but what I'm interested to know is how good their drivers are, how well do they handle Vista, how good the Linux drivers are, if you can watch a Blu-Ray movie on these things, and how they compare to what Intel offers (both the IGP and also the whole chipset).

which brand was this? i dont think there are too many that have intel procesors + sis chipsets.. well none that i can think of off the top of my head

One example is Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo MOBILE V5535. Here is the PDF from the manufacturer's site: http://sp.fujitsu-siemens.com/...primo_mobile_v5535.pdf

The particular model I'm interested in has a T5450 Core 2 Duo (1.66GHz), 1GB DDR2, 15.4" screen, 120GB hdd and it costs 500$ with VAT included. That is very cheap where I live.

The only thing that puts me off is the chipset and IGP

ah no wonder i couldnt think of any. i dont think Fujitsu-Siemens has much market share here in the US

i think its cheap for a reason
and you wont be able to watch blue ray unless you replace the internal dvd drive or get an external blue ray drive. but both option would be pretty expensive

also vista is a ram hog. 1gb is minimum but at least 2 is recommended. you can upgrade that later though
