Naw, everyone I work with I get along well with and no one is in a grumpy ass mood. Makes work that much better.

They're always happy, because I work for Big Oil. Every time you pay $4 for a gallon of gas, they smile just a teeny weeny bit bigger.

Just ask them if they have sand in their vagina, that will get them smiling.

I work nights so I'm always grumpy. It doesn't help that everyone I work with sucks.

As important as it is to hire people that can do the job, it is even more important to hire someone that is a "good fit".

The best project I was ever on involved about 4 people whom all enjoyed their work but also had similar senses of humor. And we all love The GRAIL! And the group I was working with did interview people that could do the job they needed done but they wouldn't have been a good fit.

Lately I am dealing with people that all have different ideas as to how long a project is going to take to do. All with different ideas for implementation of the solution. And we have to come up with an estimate via "decision by committee" It is total stupidity.

We're typically in a cheery mood and enjoy cracking jokes with each other. We also hang out after work once or twice a month.

Don't worry...Be happy..

It can always get worse!

Consider this. We are looking at a 30% to 45% workforce reduction, a shift realignment that will mean going to a standard 5x8 shift structure away from our current 3x4 12hr shifts. So a complete loss of our built in overtime ie ~25% paycut for those that remain. This will be happening over the next year. By the end of the summer some will be sent packing some may learn if they have a job. We may not learn who is staying and who is gone till sometime next year.

Of course this is not a company wide work force reduction, just in my small fraction. There are plenty of jobs to be had in Texas.

I work for a H.igh P.riced company you have all heard of.

No, but for some stupid fucking reason, the people I work with always seem to think I'M grumpy...

Come to think about it...my wife and kids have always thought the same way.

there can be a lot of caramaraderie working with a group of people
on a technical project with a tight deadline. and some near-impossible
goals.

but i do notice people being squeezed more & more, at work.
on the other hand, "desperation & false heartiness" are not
new to the corporate world.

so, work isn't fun (that's why they call it work) - but it can be.

I'm purposefully grumpy towards people that seem to be enjoying themselves or anything about being at the office.

Everyone that hates work and office life like I do... I'm cool with them.

I use to be friendly at work, but it just encouraged idiots to ask me to do their job for them.

Meh, just work at a government job. The people are usually much happier and more friendly because the pressure is a lot less and you just can't beat the benefits and holidays.

I've heard this a LOT over the past few years I've been at my job. To the OP, yes the people here are bitter grumpy people and take everything way too seriously. I am the type of person that likes to engage in actual conversation with someone but they always manage to inject work into the conversation which sucks royally. And to make it worse I maybe do 10 minutes of actual work every day if I'm lucky. It SUCKS!

...Me thinks you and I need to get another job OP.

I am usually cheerful at work, but I consistently talk to idiots and that kind of sours the mood.

exactly; you're dealing with people who you know nothing about. Everyone has their baggage and it's hard to leave it at the door of your home in the morning.

Just do your job, do it well, and get out.

The attitude with this poster sums it all up how most people think in the work force nowadays, but it is a shitty way to live and it is hard to live positive in a negative work force.

I agree with you. If you dread going into work for whatever reason, you will be miserable in general. But I'm not concerned with the wishy-washy. A career is what you make of it, not what other people make of it.

I agree, but there is no reason why you cannot walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. Finding a secure job that you enjoy where the people are friendly is well worth the search. I figure if you are going to spend most of your life in this one place then you might as well like it a lot.
