My... my... my... looks like I hit a nerve....
You didn't. The reality of the situation is, it's not worth the effort to point out the many flaws in your responses, hypocrisy, and other such ironies.

I mean, you saying "narrow little view of your world", but at the same time you are talking about how your father taught you ignorant and bigoted teachings, and you have accepted those as reality. Yet, you know nothing of my experiences and ideology, but you make these assumptions and talk ill of me. I'll be glad to send you a "Jump to conclusions Mat" for Christmas, if you'd like? I mean, you are so open-minded and I'm so flawed.

I can understand your hatred for anyone who has a different ideology than you. Daddy really did a number on you. Sort of like a preacher did on his congregation?

Poor guy!!!

You emblazoned your post with your own bigotry and hatred of those with differing views. I am content, you are the tormented one, that can't stand that others have views that don't align with yours... life must suck with such a myopic perspective.... troll

Not sure why you have an issue with two words that have different meanings. That's not the problem of the term agnostic vs atheist, that's a personal problem.

Didn't take long for you to turn things personal. Seems that self-styled agnostics are every bit as touchy as the hard-line believers.

Wow, we have a regular little orange man right here. Twisting everything to suite their own narrative.

It feels like you have a personal issue with the fact that those two terms are different, because they have been explained but you won't accept that they have their own identity. I mean I could just post the literal definitions, but I suspect you will argue against those somehow:

<~~ agnostic atheist

To your question. it’s easy to come to the conclusion gods don’t exist as their is literally zero proof they do exist. At best you have badly written books by men who had zero knowledge we possess today. A 4th grader today probably has more knowledge than 99% of people did in zero AD. Bunch of nomads and shepherds who never travelled more than 5 miles from their place of birth. It was easier to attribute natural phenomena to a god who was angry for some reason.

If you are an elder and looked up to and wanted to control your flock one readily available tactic was to invent fictional characters with supernatural powers and threaten your flock with them. Enter religion, God, gods, what have you.

I think it started out as plain old laziness.

"Grog, go out kill a deer; the kids are hungry."
"I'm busy."
"You're sitting on your ass, staring at the sky."
"I'm praying that the deer will return, very important work."

That might work in a monastery, not so well otherwise. "Prayers plow not, praises reap not." - William Blake

OP, did you create this thread with the intent of bringing out the inner neckbeard in the members of this board?

Given that I used to be religious (Baptist), I look at The Bible in that way. I think you can usually correlate most rules to aspects of society in those days. For example, women were almost like property in regard to things like marriage, and a family would want to avoid their "product" being soiled (with child) for potential suitors. The important thing is that these are largely based on archaic ways of thinking or outdated ways of life.

Of course, there's also the idea that people want simple answers to questions. Where do the sky flashes and noises come from? The god Thor strikes his mighty hammer, of course! Even ignoring religion, some people still seem to lean toward the easy answers regardless of the amount of evidence to support them. I don't know if it's a sense of ignorance or people having a fear of the unknown? In regard to the latter, it's more about a simple, "safe" answer that quells the fear.
