if you agree to a lump sum, it won't be for the full amount. It will be some percentage i.e. a little more than half the amount. There is some economics involved with present value when calculating the lump sum. Most people for tax purposes should take the lump sum.

OK, so lets say you take the lump sum. Where the fvck does the remainder go? Surely not all to taxes. Is anyone aware of any investigations into where all the money (paid into taxes, not paid into taxes, and revenues generated by running the lottery) from lotteries such as the PowerBall go? I'm very curious

The remainder is not real money. Read about how annuities work.
