I alwyas thought it would be neat to be a freemason, if for no other reason than to be part of some exlcusive group. I joined the Stonecutters instead.

My grandfather was a member, until he got into an argument and decided to quit.

Apparently they do not acknowledge it when you tell them you leave it, because at his cremation they turned up with several people to place a whole bunch of roses on his coffin. Apparently he was quite highly placed.

I grew up around Masons. Perhaps the only "fraternal order" I have any respect for. MOST are just excuses to get together and drink, while perhaps managing to do some good deeds along the way. The Masonic Lodge and it's members are known far & wide for their good works.
My Father-in-law was a 32nd degree mason, as was my grandfather.
I've come close to applying a time or two, but one thing or another always seemed to get in the way.
