glavine career vs mussina career.

i'd say mussina needs a 4 or 5 more good years before he's a lock.

too early for Mussina...200 W's doesn't get you in

Brown won't be around long enough...Glavine is a possible, Cone = no, Pedro - probably, his era vs the league avg the past 5 years is one of the more impressive runs by a staring pitcher in league history....your boy Pettite has a ways to go, and now his elbow is bad again....

i assumed people would figure that out just looking at the list, as i said, other than Cone, they are all currently active pitchers, making the question pretty obvious.

I was thinking the same. Mussina has a chance if he keeps up and/or gets 300 wins. But glavine will get in. MAYBE not his first year, but yea he is in.

Tom Glavine - Borderline
David Cone - No
Pedro Martinez - Definitely, he was probably the most dominating pitcher of all time
Randy Johnson - Yes
Roger Clemens - Of course, one of the best ever
Greg Maddux - Of course
Mike Mussina - Depends, but right now I would say no.
Andy Pettite - Definitely not, no chance in hell, IMO.
Kevin Brown - Depends, but right now I would say no. If he gives 2-3 years like last season, then possibly.

agreed, most people feel glavine is a show in and the only real question regarding glavine is whethor he gets in his first year or not.

Tom Glavine-Y
David Cone-N
Pedro Martinez-Y - if he stays healthy a few more years and effective
Randy Johnson-Y
Roger Clemens-Y
Greg Maddux-Y
Mike Mussina-N
Andy Pettite-N
Kevin Brown-n

I doubt the Nos will have enough effectiveness left in their careers to make it.

glavine going to the mets hurt his chances at getting in the HOF a bit, just like Roberto Alomar hurt his chances by going to the mets.

hmmmm, is this a trend?

Glavine - Yes
Cone - No
Martinez - No
Johnson - Yes
Clemens - Yes
Maddux - Yes
Mussina - No
Pettite - No
Brown - No

Martinez is the only one who I said no to that has a realistic shot at getting in if he stays healthy and pitches for another 3-4 years.

Mussina will retire LONG before he gets close to 300 wins. Glavine, on the other hand, wanted a 4 year deal so he would have a realistic shot at 300.

300 wins = guarantee IN the HOF. < 300 wins does NOT mean not in the HOF.

Mussina doesn't have to get 300 wins to get in the HOF, but his problem is, he doesn't have a lot of things that make him stand out. if he had performed exceptionally in either of the last two WS, he might be given more consideration, but he just kind of wilted.

he is an exceptionally professional and consistent performer but he doesn't strike me as an amazing performer. glavine falls in that category also but he's done it for longer and he has won a WS ring.

I bolded your ridiculous statement. Compare Martinez's stats to Koufax (one of the greatest pitchers of all time, hands down), right now, right this instant. Then look at Martinez's ERA+ in his prime years, and think about how he did this in a hitter's era and against the DH. Thanks, come again.

You can't leave Coney out!!!

Most on the list are too early to tell.

I pretty much agree with mpitts except for his exclusion of Cone.
