are these temps ok for an i5 4670k non-oc w/coolermaster v8 gts cooler

i ran prime 95 and shot up to 76 degrees. Is that ok for this cpu? or do I need reseat the hs? I just built it yesterday

Are you planning on OCing? If so, you are high. If not, 76 is perfectly fine.

What is the VID of the chip? (Not on box anymore)

Not planning to oc. Not at home atm so can't check vid. I did run the same test on my 3770k rig using a noctua nh d14 and it didn't go past 63. FTL

thinking about returning the coolermaster v8 and just going with the noctua again

If you aren't overclocking it, there is really no need to worry about 76 on Prime95. Even if 76 was a problem, you still have margin since that is not a real-world application as far as CPU stress.

In reality you shouldn't have needed to spend money on an aftermarket HSF to run @ stock settings.

I guess old habits are hard to break

It just doesn't feel right to me leaving the hsf stock

no need for coolers if you are just running it on stock unless you have a crappy case with the worst ventilation.

The stock hsf is garbage and if the case has bad airflow (or even if it doesnt) it can get quite hot when it turbos, add a few months and some dust and all bets are off
