Current pricing on the RX 6600 makes everything below it a poor value. There was a NIB model as low as $199. No way I'd buy a heavily used 5700XT mining card over it either; warranty, better media support, superior performance per watt.

It might be silly, but one of those cards you mention is also fully DX12 Ultimate compliant with a feature set that is the same as current gen consoles, and the other one isn't.

I consider all the first gen RDNA pipe-cleaners for RDNA2 and not particularly desirable at all now. With the mining wear and tear, they are completely off my radar now.

The reference Sapphire 5700XT I preordered was the worst experience I have ever had with ATI/AMD. On both the hardware and software level. Hardware accelerated playback was broken. It was hot and loud OOB due to the blower design. Had a super bad hitching issue in Fallout 4. Then locked itself to 800MHz core and couldn't be changed. Instability ensued. Sent it back, and I have never owned a RDNA card again.

Not long ago I posted a hot deal for the Gigabyte Eagle 6650XT for $265. Haven't seen anything NIB since with better mainstream bang for buck. I saw a RTX 3050 for $275 yesterday. IMO it's already overpriced at $250 MSRP. It is aging like warm milk. Ray tracing is inconsequential in the price tier, and that is the only thing it does worthwhile. People can link a 100 side by side analysis of why DLSS is better than FSR. It is all marketing to me. I mess around with both, and when playing the games, both do the job. I don't catch myself thinking how it looked better with DLSS. Less shimmer maybe? if I look for it, but I don't. If it is obtrusive I make a mental note. Both have done that, so it's a tie.

AMD is bang for buck champ right now. 500$ and up buyers comprise a small percentage of gamers. That is where the Nvidia tax might be worth it. ARC is a curiosity right now, we will see if it starts to factor in when you can readily buy one and have it be a decent OOB experience.

Think I'm gonna wait a few months to buy a 6800xt or 6900xt. These $500-$600 sales going on right now are tempting, but they'll be lower next year after RDNA3 launches. I've stuck with a 2060 for three years, I can wait another 3 months.

6800XT is the best bang for buck card at the moment. my only problem with amd is their adrenalin is hard on the eyes.

The 7900XTX/XT will push the prices on 3090 cards, so nvidia will have to lower prices in the entire 80/90 stack if they want to keep selling them.

NV has a month to keep prices where they are. I would expect lower prices once AMD cards become available. Not sure what to expect the 4080 price to be upon release. That's the big question for me.

Judging from Newegg's results, nVidia seems to have gotten most of the 3080 Ti+ supply sold. And the 3070 Ti and 3080 are still selling over it's original MSRP. They might not feel great about selling GA102 at 3070 Ti prices but it could be worse... as you can see from the N31 deals.

$1199 or do you believe it will change before launch?

I think it's going to drop.

Unlikely. It may have factored into their decision to 'unlaunch' the 12 GB but that they didn't change anything about the 16 GB tells me they aren't going to do anything there. The 4070 Ti might end up being $799.

Knowing NV you may be right. It's also a possibility that they will raise the default clocks on the 4080 to squeak a few more frames out. Seems to be room for it if the 4090 silicon is a guide.

People always underestimate the amount of people that insist on NVidia.

RTX 3050 is still selling for significantly more than RX 6600. (Earlier today in Canada I saw about $400 vs $300), and this is value end of the market where things like AI and Ray Tracing don't matter, and where buyers should be much more sensitive to perf/$ and almost nothing else.

IMO, this kind of thing only gets worse at or near the high end.

I don't like to name call but damn those people really are Nvidiots. Either they will only buy Nvidia, listen to their Nvidia owning friends, or don't do any research. I'm going with option two.

Apparently AMD doesn't want to cut any further and is now offering a game bundle including Dead Island 2 and Callisto Protocol if you buy a new 6000 Series GPU. That seems like a pretty good bundle given the circumstances.

Personally, I'm not interested in those games, so it's not really a benefit to me. I'd prefer a lower price.

That's why they do it. If you are interested in either game, it makes it that much better of a deal. Not everyone will though which is why AMD probably got the keys for cheap.

I get that, but that's why some of us don't care about the bundle. I was replying to your response to mastertech01.

That's a 120 euro bundle from the official stores, (steam/epic) or a 70 euro bundle from key stores.

Will they be giving them with the 200 euro 6500XTs as well? Because if yes, I know what my next card will be! xD

edit

yeah the small ones will be getting one game

but still in my country that means rx6600 for 140 euros, not bad hmmm.....

Dead Island 2 will probably be horrible considering it's developed by the studio who made Homefront. It adds zero value for me.
