I finally decided on the last piece of my new build the other day, to replace the old I3 4340 based desktop & Radeon RX 550 video card, which we use for casual gaming. When I saw the Ryzen 5600G for $114, I finally pulled the trigger. It seems to have performance at around the RX 550 level, so I guess we're going to excise the video card from our system for a while.

- Got a little HTPC/couch co-op machine running off a 2200g single fan machine (Stock AM4 CPU cooler) and its great.

Configure it to launch directly into Steam big picture mode and its essentially a steam console, and the 2200G handles really all of my couch co-op content (which is predominently 2D or very low weight 3D) at 1080p High quite well.

5600G will make a solid piece of kit for casual gaming.

Good to see Ryzen APUs getting some love here.

IME, the 5600G and 5700G Vega will take a 400MHz overclock without touching anything else. They are faster in the vast majority of titles than a RX550, sometimes considerably so. And a 6 core Zen 3 is a massive upgrade from an old i3 too. I had a hard time not buying another 5600G with the price and games bundle.

As to prices: They seem to have leveled off for NIB the last couple of months. With the exception of a rare hot deal that sells out in a flash. The used market is still full derp.

Should be a 3050 Ti, and much lower price.

I'm sure the official MSRP is cheaper... gonna have a bad time if you are comparing prices using the scalper sellers on Newegg. Newegg themselves aren't selling any 3060 8 GB at this point.

Vidcardz summary of the video:

Since this new 3060 is weaker than a 6600, it should be priced around $200 right? Ok, maybe $250 for the Nvidia tax, software benefits. Oh wait, the 3050 cards are still $250-300.

Edit: Hah! It has a 128bit memory bus.

Scalpers now offering 4080 cards at MSRP before returning them to Vendor. I really hope they get screwed on returns with big restocking fees. As always. NEVER buy from scalpers.

I've bought some used graphics cards in the past for Folding at Home. I'd never buy used for gaming, especially after the Ethereum mining craze.
Prices haven't sunk as low as I expected them to for Black Friday - Cyber Monday. Not in the market right now, so it doesn't matter. Super surprised at Ebay prices, peeps want to sell their cards for what they payed for them. Duh.

Well allowing for shipping time to get it under the tree, there are just two more weeks to sell off your Christmas gift GPUs. The market will slow to a crawl after that.

Same thing that they did with the GTX 1060. The 3GB model was much slower than the 6GB model because the GPU was also cut down.

Yet people still buy them because nVidia.

I think people are going to look at the model number and given 3060 is higher than 3050 assume it’s a step up. It has 8 GB of memory like the 3060ti and 3070 have so that’s fine.

People not being informed is likely why it’s all been “fine” for so long. The type of questions that people even bother to ask on posted deals elsewhere would leave you shaking you head - willing to put down hundreds of dollars without extremely little knowledge.

I do feel that not giving it some moniker like “SE” or “GS” is very misleading. Most OG 3060 reviews are for the 12GB version yet they aren’t labeled as “3060 12GB” because there was not another 3060 vanilla in existence at the time. Someone using a cursory search and getting those comparison engines could be forgiven for not catching that detail imo. So this is Nvidia banking on the relative value and recognition of the 3060 to sell a lesser part with same exact name. This should be treated like when SSD manufactures changed the capabilities of their drives to make them cheaper to them and slower for us but didn’t disclose it, in my opinion. I would detest it if AMD made a 6 GB 6600 and did functionally the same thing as well.

Exactly. The only thing different on the boxes is a different memory amount and you have to have very advanced technical knowledge to know that this can indicate a different bus size. Most people will logically assume that it works the same way as a computer, where you can have different amounts of memory with everything else (including performance when you are not memory limited) being the same.

The relevant information is not displayed on the box, so it is impossible for the consumers to make an informed decision unless they already know about Nvidia's attempt to defraud them.

Nvidia probably stays just within the limits what's legal, but it is highly immoral.

30-series NV cards have gone up 200% on the secondary market.

i've been watching the last two weeks, maybe four weeks, 30-series cards sold NEW have been going up in price as well.

The anti-flood?

If only it was for 1600 series cards too, would be funny to get a good price selling my 1660 Super after upgrading to a 6700 XT.

Dont be confused. Just because there was no red wave, doesnt mean there wont be a GPU flood. Those cracks in the dam will cave eventually

I even see some miners collecting cards because they 'learned' during the last crypto downturn that mining will be back soon and then the card prizes will go up. Such a shame to see cards go to waste like that.
