Don't draw your conclusions just yet. Sales have plummeted in the last two quarters and believe it or not, consumers are driving a hard bargain. We need to see Q4 sales data before we speculate on where the market is heading.

The Flood causing the fall of used and new GPU pricing and glut of inventory <- debunked

Higher interest rates and recession causing the fall of used and new automotive and powersports pricing and glut of inventory <- debunked

"Chip Shortage" causing a reduction in production rate of new vehicles <- debunked

Corporate offices realizing if they throttle production to well back on the supply : demand curve while competition is no longer present <- PROFIT

But part of the fun is getting a good deal/good value for your money.
I have read a few others here state that, so more power to you guys. I define fun differently. Making new demanding games run well on low end and older hardware, putting together purpose built systems, instead of building just one, that can do anything and everything. That's the part I find the most fun. Penny pinching and month after month expending effort looking to save a couple of $100 sounds like work, not fun. And if there is anything I have spent most of my life avoiding, it's that nasty 4 letter word.

The RDNA2 prices are the same here in Denmark as prior to the RDNA3 launch, but maybe it is just the usual price delay.

Seems pretty stable. I still glad I got a 6600XT back on launch day. Been enjoying RDNA2 for 1.5 years already.

I saw the ASUS RX 6800 TUF available for almost $500 from Amazon UK for a few days before the RDNA3 launch. I almost never see an ASUS card competitively priced here in UAE. It's like ASUS uses pure gold or something.

That's just standard ASUS graphics card procedure. Must be 24 carat gold and assembled by the Queen at those prices.

Here in Denmark the state keeps its taxes, unless your name is Sanjay Shar....

Yes, that was quite the debacle...

I just like reading and discussing hardware just as much if not more than actual gaming. Some people like to go to flea markets, to find a good deal. If I didn't enjoy it, I wouldn't be doing it. And it is just recently, that some of the newer co-op games are starting to make my computer feel old, so I'm fine and I could at any time upgrade to whatever computer I wanted, but I know that when I finally do, every part will just as I wanted it to be.

Right on.

I don't buy hardware, I rent it. Hence, I never expected my 20 series RTX cards or Vega to be an investment. I made a profit after selling all of them. Even after years of use. Normally, I use stuff, resell it, and consider the difference the rental fee.

As well as this RX 6800 fits my needs for power and performance, I will probably sell it off and eat the $100 -$150 in a few months. Waiting to see what else AMD has to offer first. I am hoping for RDNA3 with similar or better raster and RT using one power connector. Then I will settle in and game on that for a 18-24 months. Planning on a 5800X 3D in 2023 too. No interest in Zen 4, and Intel tick tock can suck it. Though I'd like an Intel GPU at some point.

I find here that Gigabyte cards are over priced.

I think of it like renting too and sell all my old stuff, but with an indefinite lease term. I can choose whether to upgrade or not at any time based on how good the new hardware is and what games are on my upcoming playlist. The last 2 video card generations have all been a huge jump in performance, which hasn't happened for a long time prior to that and may not happen in the future.

The real problem these days are the scalpers. It has made buying a card a huge hassle instead of a fun experience. I was about to give up on it recently but found a decent local deal on craigslist.

Concerning that word, here is a quote. I so wish people took more note of it, but we usually have the opposite.

"I divide my officers into four classes as follows: the clever, the industrious, the lazy, and the stupid. Each officer always possesses two of these qualities. Those who are clever and industrious I appoint to the General Staff. Use can under certain circumstances be made of those who are stupid and lazy. The man who is clever and lazy qualifies for the highest leadership posts. He has the requisite and the mental clarity for difficult decisions. But whoever is stupid and industrious must be got rid of, for he is too dangerous."

Clever and lazy finds the easiest/cheapest way to accomplish a task. My kind of person.
Stupid and industrious is a busybody continually agitating to do something, even if wrong. A pestilence on us.

I haven't read last couple pages of this thread but for me the "4000 series is priced high due to 3000 series inventory" simply doesn't hold up. 3080s and 3090s including TIs are simply not available at all or still at insane prices of >$900 even for 3080s. Even local used market site isn't that flooded albeit you can get "mining rig" 3080s for around $550 and I saw a 3090 go for $770 ( I almost jumped in on the auction due to the value but then I don't really need the 24 gb ram and it sin't really worth $200 more than a 3080 for gaming IMHO). AMD 6000 series is also very dry. some 6800s for around $650. 6800 xt or higher? market completely dry. only 6750 XT is readily available. Radeons are also a rarity on used market and 6800 xt is usually more expensive than 3080s.

I think the reason for new gen high prices is that both Nvidia and AMD released a minuscule amount of inventory so far (200k units each). That and the high demand for anything new is a virtual guarantee for high prices. Its also imo the reason Nvidia priced the the 4080 so high (only 30,000 units released). Their pricing strategy is tied to the number of units they are releasing into the market. If they released a million units, its price would be very different.

Try getting one from the FS/FT forum here, they are much less likely to be mined on. It's worth spending a little more to avoid a card that was used for mining 24/7, especially with the memory overheating issues the 3xxx cards had.

Yeah, via pcpartpicker the 3050 is going for around $260-290. Still crazy given that is 1660TI/Super prices from 3 years ago though. 5% perf increase for same money. Yay.

-I didn't see the highlights and thought you were talking about the prices. Prices in general aren't great but good lord NV prices are in a different league of outrageous right now.

Wonder if the bad mojo surrounding AMD's launch is actually depressing demand for older 6xxx series cards too.

There are also many no-name "retailers" on google shopping selling cards at prices below MSRP. Many of these sites look suspiciously similar. I would avoid them especially if you can't find them on resellerratings.

1660 Super was $230 in 2019, more like 5% performance increase for 12% to 25% more money plus the three and half years lost you could have just been gaming on the 1660 Super instead of the presumably weaker gpu you upgraded from if getting a 3050. What a trash card.

In theory. If I remember right, here in the US the 1660Super stayed at $230 for about two to four weeks before hitting $250-280. After awhile it was buy either the Ti or the Super which ever was cheaper.
