-Ebay is so buyer friendly it's pretty much the only place I would trust for used. Shipped back (for free) a defective 3080 that the seller claimed was functional, will get my money back in a couple days. No fuss no muss.

They covered me for a fraudulent GPU listing too. Basically have a customer for life out of me.
Yup. Ebay can be a pit of despair for sellers. But as a buyer they are excellent. During the pandemic when prices went nuts I tried to pick up a couple of RX580s for people I knew. Price was great and the listing had over 100 in stock. I knew it was probably a scam, but took the gamble. Ebay squashed them almost immediately. Money was back in my account in hours. I didn't have to take any action.

The holidays are almost here, that is when the best new deals should be. Amazon is doing a Prime early access sale next week 11th-12th. That will be the first chance to see if the deals will be any good this year.

Any idea/speculation about availability? I must have missed a memo recently but in the past few weeks, Newegg has been rather inconsistent with prices and availability. It seems like one week the 3090s are below $1k and in stock but the next week they shot back up to $1.6k and are out of stock. I just looked and every single card I had in my cart (pricing/comparison) are now out of stock and are about $400 more than what they were when I last checked.

I'm getting the feeling that if I want to build a new PC soon, I can't grab everything at once with supplies being so erratic. Not to mention the CPU that I was planning on pre-ordering sold out before I could get my order in so I have to wait and hope supplies are replenished when the release date hits.

Between @VirtualLarry and myself we actively monitor parts sourcing pretty well. Provide a parts list via PM and we will see what we can find. I shouldn't speak for him, but Imma do it anyways.

I think the reason prices are whacky right now, is because it's the annual "jack up prices before the holidays, to make the upcoming sales look like deals."

Stock issues at Newegg I can't speak to. Every biz charges sales tax for Fl. now, so Amazon wins most my biz due to prime benefits including 5% back, same day or next day shipping on most stuff, and price parity. I do check Newegg prices almost daily on various PC parts though.

- I think what we're seeing is dynamic pricing from places like NE and Amazon. Cards drop low(er) or go on sale and suddenly there is a bum rush from r/buildapcsales or something and the algorithm sees a high velocity on a couple of these products and jacks the price up again hoping to nab a few desperation buys.

Things cool off, and then they try the same thing again. and again. and again.

We're in a war of attrition with the market both new and used. New market has retailers sitting on mountains of inventory that they bought way too high, used market has miners/scalpers/gamers that bought for way too much money, and everyone is trying to claw back as much profit as humanly possible. As buyers now, its incumbent on us to recognize the true value of 2 year old tech that is on the verge of being replaced by the new hotness, more so if its used.

Got a counteroffer sitting in my ebay inbox for a 6800 non-xt for $370 + $20 shipping and $37 taxes thanks Cali so ~$430 all in which really isn't a *bad* price but I ain't paying over $350 all in on a 6800 non-XT given I can snag one brand new right now for ~$550 all in.

More and more cards showing up on FB Marketplace and prices are starting to nudge down daily. Not a lot but little by little as the sellers start stacking up.

Ok, picked up a 6800xt for $415 with free shipping, $450 all in. "Lightly used" the seller says.

Let's see if I have better luck this time.

I'll finally get my all AMD system if everything works out. But disappointed I won't get to experience DLSS and such, but I actually like AMD's control panel so much more than NV (esp overclocking options).

That's a good bit of card for the money. Maybe new paste and pads would be a good investment soon.

I have a couple of RTX and several RX 6000 series. DLSS and FSR are both fine. When not scrutinizing side by side and actually playing games, they work as advertised. Ray tracing is decidedly better with RTX of course. Personally reflections is the only one I care about, and only in a couple of games, so speaking for myself, meh.

With Nvidia already segmenting DLSS, they can suck it. FSR is going to keep picking up steam, pun intended, and I prefer to support open standards. Radeon Chill is a cool feature for older and easy to run games. You can play them max settings while using very little wattage. My 6600XT uses less in Fallout 4 than my RX 6400.

6800XT down to $540. They are really trying to get rid of stock now. Just a few weeks ago, I think it wasn't easy to find these at $650.

- MSI Ventus 3080 10g OC LHR (whooo thats a mouthful). Would boot into windows but got wildly unstable after actually trying to do anything. Driver would continuously crash and screen would have corruption on it. Tried a million and one fixes including buying a whole new 1000w PSU in the event that my other 1000w PSU was bad but no, it was the card that was bad.

Its being shipped back to the seller for a refund as we speak.
Always return immediately when get a DOA item! Longer you wait, the more trouble for you!

- For sure. The seller received the card and I got my full $380 back. I actually think detailing everything I did (including pictures) was a show of good faith for the seller. They didn't dick me around with a refund, got the card and gave me my money ASAP, which I then used to buy another card.

Not too long after I posted this, the same card in quantity of two was selling at Amazon US around similar price. The same link now shows quantity of 4 by a different seller and price is $750!

What are the chances of the 3090 Ti dropping further in price once the RTX 4090 is released? I debating to myself whether I should order the 3090 Ti now or wait until the RTX 4090 is released in case there is a further price drop on the 3090 Ti. Also I plan on upgrading to either a 13700k or a 7800X3D when they release and I hope that the 3090 Ti won't bottleneck these 2 CPUs if I decide to upgrade to a 3090 Ti.

Chances are high.

If you can wait, wait.

After lying in wait, waiting for a deal to strike, I found one I could live with. Canada Computers has this one for $300 CAD+tax+freeship (amazon Ca is $10 more).
It will replace my trusty 1060 3GB, which I bought used about 2 years ago (I don't even remember). Assuming it fits in my case and my power supply can handle it. I might be able to maintain 60fps in Deep Rock 1440p now.

With the price of electricity I'm still going to wait for next gen RDNA3 promise of +50% performance/watt.
Just curious, but what percentage of your electric bill do you think goes just for your video card, and how much does your video card cost in comparison? I am imagining your bills must be frightful if the price of the video card is OK.
